I added up the points and verified with other drivers at WCCC...John, Edgar, Ralph, anybody - help!
Oh boy, well - just how am I going to announce this? :bb
Uh, well, I was kinda adding up the points for the season. We weren't officially racing for points, you know, but I thought I'd add up my rounds to see how I did for this, our first season. Then I went back over the race results to see who were the potential champion contenders . Then I called the two drivers who I knew would be at or near the top, to verify with them the rounds they won. After confirming their points, I then asked Gwendolyn to check and re-check my math. Then I realized that IF we were to have crowned a champion for 2002, our inaugural year in the Corvette Challenge series, that, uh...well...uh...that ...uh...that I...uh, as in me...uh...would be the champion. Oh boy.
Uh...here are the independently verified and UN-OFFICIAL results of our UN-OFFICAL points race for the UN-OFFICIAL race season of 2002, and the UN-OFFICIAL champion, runner-up, and third place finisher.
First Place: Gary Brown (16 points)
Second Place: Mike Villeneuve (14 points)
Third Place: Todd Drane (Beach Bum) 10 points
It is quite probable that if Mike and Todd - who each missed one race this year - had made all five races, that either one of them could have been the UN-OFFICIAL champion.
 to EVERYBODY who had the pleasure of running one or more races at the West Coast Corvette Challenge this year!
Gary that is great. Yes I see how you unofficially could see you would have finished with more round wins but you cannot presume that you would have been crowned champ.
I made a presumptin in one of my articles that a driver would have won a round had something not happend to him. But it was a poor presumption as it presumed the opposing driver would have done nothing different given a change in circumstances.
My point is, had it been a points series from the start, Mike or Todd or even someone else might have made the effort to make the races they didn't and all else would be different.
Nonetheless, you are still a champ in my book.
PS, I thought that with 2 finals under your belt you would have been up there in points too.

Re: I added up the points and v (REDGAR)
ALL good points! It's true. We don't really know what the real outcome would have been if we had actually billed this as a points race for this year. When I started to look at this on Monday evening, I really thought that if anybody would have had the points lead, it would have been Mike. I was a bit surprised when Todd, Mike, and I did the actual math.
But, no matter. We had a great beginning season and now it is time to rest for awhile and get ready for our first OFFICIAL points season beginning on January 18th. @ LACR.
Once again, thanks to everybody in ALL of the Corvette challenges who are involved and supportive of these events. Everybody who participated had fun this year and that's the OFFICIAL bottom line! :yesnod:
