Most tracks just require an M95 rated which you can get from 79 to 150+

If you plan to road race go for an SA 00 which can be had for $130 to $700

You need to decide if you want full face or open face (like Big Dale wore most of the time). You might feel more comfortable in open face but if you are going to hit a road course I'd suggest full face. http://www.jegs.com http://www.summitracing.com http://www.helmetcity.com http://www.racerwholesale.com http://www.simpsonraceproducts.com
or your local speed shop.

I have a simpson open face I bought and used one season that I do not use any more as I switched to closed face. If you fit an XL helmet I will sell it to you at a fair price and can even bring it to you as I am in Covington and Newport Mon - Thur weekly.

If your drag racing, a lot has to do with the strip you are going to run at...some strips denote the type of helmet by the times you run....I'd check with the track you plan to run at first and see what they require...mine (Bradenton, Fl.) requires full face, SA 95 but I have seen guys with open face too...good luck

I have a Simpson Snell 2000 open face and it's perfectly comfortable for me. I race a C4, I'm 5.10' and the seat requires a little adjusting for me to fit comfortably in the car when that's over with, the helmet doesn't even feel like it's there. I'm a bracket racer and I would never go with a closed-face as in my opinion it obstructs peripheal vision way too much. That's just my opinion, but I have raced with both open and closed.

Jegs & Summit have a good selection from the lower cost models that satisfy most any track to Simpsons best!
