3.90 or 4.10s mn12
I'm on the fence about 3.90s or 4.10s. 04 z06 462hp cam/fast 102. It's the vindicator cam. I run a hoosier drag radial 275/40/17. I rev the car to 6800. I've only had the car to the track on two seperate occasions. It's trapped as high as 123 the very first pass. My best 60' is 1.57. The car was slowly losing mph do to clutch issues but that's resolved now with the monster stage 3. I'm looking to trap around 125/126 in decent air. What gear would you experienced racers recommend for my cam only z? Looking to bring the 60s in to the 1.4s and shooting for 10.80s before I throw heads on the car.

Speed Trap
Do you recall in what gear and what RPM that you went through the top speed trap at ? You don't want to run out of RPM going through the trap and have to change gears!
Getting a good 60 ft time is great but remember you still have the rest of the track to go!
Good Luck with this, this is why when I race I used HP tuners and logged all my runs to see exactly the shift points and mph numbers

As a former gear jammer, here's my opinion with a MN12.
If your plan is mostly street, 3.90
If your plan is mostly track, 4.10.
Have Fun regardless!!

Go with 4.10s for ultimate acceleration. You will cross the finish line at +/- 6800 rpm with a 126 mph trap. You may wish to raise the limiter to 6900 or 7000 should you trap a little higher and most likely you will. (Throw a set of rod bolts in when you decide to do the heads. )

Gary, thank you for that info, that's exactly the info I was looking for. My car loves rpm with my cam. I have a set of katech rod bolts sitting around and plan to spin the motor to 7100. when we cut her off at 6900 it was still making power power but i didn't feel comfortable revving that high. Now that I got a feel for the motor and what it likes, im not worried about spinning it to 7100. I'm hoping to be able to trap around 130 with the 346 after heads and a 28" tire. thanks to all that replied.
Keep us posted.

I have had both 3.90's an 4.10's. Without a doubt I would go with 4.10's. They help the clutch live a long time by giving the car a longer lever to get off the line.
I am more of a fan of the 275/40/17 drag radial because I like to drive to/from the track on them. I changed my tires at the track in the rain one time too many.
Either way you can't go wrong and Gary is right, the bias is a little easier on the parts.

I've decided on the 4.10s, with hardened shafts, c6z clutch packs and pinion support. I'm going to use my brace also. I may run a bias ply in the future but all in all I'm happy with my 275/40/17 Hoosiers and how they've acted. It 60ft'd 1.5x pretty easily on the stock clutch. I'm hoping for some 1.4s with new clutch and coming out alittle higher.

But they are no bueno if there's any water at all on the road. Mickeys are the best choice IMHO if you are going to drive to/from the track.
