Wow, congratulations twice. One for the win and the bigger one for the car surviving a trip off the front of the trailer and still being able to race down the track.

Peter it was a pleasure to spend the time with you and to watch you work your way through the field. The car was real consistent but you had to drive your way through 5 tough rounds. Congratulations!!

Congrats Peter! It was great to meet you and hang out this weekend. Great driving and tuning for the win. I trust that your trip home to NJ was better than the trip to Atlanta.

Pete congrats to you again! And so cool Redgar could be there cheering you on.
How did you get it back up on the trailer? And was there any damage?
Buddy it really was your lucky weekend....that sure could have gone a LOT worse.

Thanks again guys.
I drove it back onto the trailer. I had a spare hitch pin in my truck.
Right rear was flat, but oh well. Got a new tire at Summit in ATL. Had it mounted in Commerce.

Get the wheel alignment checked?
If not, you got a lot of ***** after what happened last car.

I crawled under my open trailer and looked it over extensively. Also driving around the pits with hands off the wheel stabbing the gas and then the brakes... Car kept going straight. Removed all the wheels and checked out the suspension. All seemed ok. And my first pass I didn't run all out. Just needed to get a feel for it.

Jeezus Pet, you should stick to driving and flying only, no wrenching, tools, or setting up trailers, lol.
Seriously congrats on winning after such a crazy turn of events. I think I would have not had the courage to forge on...

OMG! I knew about the win but not about the 'backstory' on the ride down there!
It really is SUCH an interesting story/chain of events though.
I remember first meeting Pete at Atco like 6 years ago, relatively inexperienced in racing his then manual transmissoned C5 'vert and asking all of the right questions about it. Then he sets the bolt on C5 LS1 record.
Then he starts finishing higher and higher in various select events in the blue car.
In the mean time, Edgar is winning regularly, locally and nationally, in his red C5.
Pete gets a white C5 Z06, starts posting low ETs and cutting down the tree in that as well.
Then disaster strikes that car.
Edgar retires and Pete needs a new ride, perfect timing.
Pete starts kickin' azz in the red car.
Near disaster almost strikes again on the way to his very first (competing) LSx series event.
Not a problem, he wins it anyway WITH Edgar there in attendance at what I believe is his first/only LSx/NMCA appearance since retiring?
Yes, it was already a well established, winning race car...but the car does not do it alone.
Congrats on a fantastic win Pete.

Thanks again guys!!
Marc, I met you on the second night I ever went to the track. I ran 12.97 on street tires. November 2008. That was the night Gary ran his best in the yellow Z. I had no idea who he was, or anyone else in the drag racing community either. You were very helpful with my noob questions.
I do believe this was Edgar's first LSX/NMCA race as a spectator, unless he snuck into the Bradenton race without telling anyone. He did say it felt wrong that he had to park in "spectator parking". Like a regular joe.
When he saw the sled, he walked right past me and gave the car a hug.
