6 rounds, $800
It was a long 2 days of racing at Sonoma Raceway for our 4th Summit ET race. With weekend temperatures into the 90's the '84 was running from 10.30's in the morning up to 10.50's in the afternoon with the heat and a brisk headwind. Sunday, I went out in the second round. Monday, I went 6 rounds to win the Pro field of 50+ racers. I was on the tree for most of the day; the first 3 runs I had reaction times of .006, .001, .009. Not bad for footbraking. For the most part, the car was on it's number. The density altitude on both days first rose, then fell late in the afternoon. The wind started as a tailwind in the mornings and then turned around to 18 mph headwinds in the afternoon. This made for challenging dial-ins. Mondays race started at 8:00am and I finished at 6:00pm. It was a long day, but worth it! Here's a picture. Willie

Thanks guys. I've been racing this car for 30 years ever since I bought it new in 84. At 150-200 runs a year for the past 20 years when I became more serious in this sport, it has quite a few 1/4 mile runs.

Good Work Willie, it was fun watching you go rounds! I only went a couple each day but was a bit of a learning experience with the new 572 PG motor. Got to tame it down a bit on the hit. I am waiting for a few of Tommy's pictures of 2nd round Sunday when the car was in the air pretty good and clicked the 60' beam with the rear tires........
Are you racing the big bucks race at Sac?

The big Bucks race is the Fri-Sat just before Vette Magic on Sunday, we are thinking on skipping the BB and just take the Vette over on Sunday to spectate.

Nice lights and good times.I can't seem to get more than 2nd place this year.Summit Pro has gotten harder this year on Maui .I think all the delays over here is what messes you up ,they had to redo the ladder 3 times and with 15 cars, I never did get the bi run?I qualified 3.I think I need another track.I just got tired on Sat and runer up on friday

My buddy DEEP stages ,When we race I give him time to spool up .Some of the other guys don't give him the time and they have to face him every Mth ,so now they hit the top bulb and just sit ,until he gets into the lights. If you write DEEP on the windshield then usually the stager and other driver will let you get into the lights. My buddy was racing his rental in May 2014 vett but he was afraid of it.
We have some 7.70 dragsters over here now, 2 of my race buddies purchased the cars over on the mainland .The fastest we allow at the strip is 7.50 200mph.
It is just a pain to get your license over here so I keep mine up to date
I only run 9's but that is fast enough for me ,The faster you go the more money you have to spend.Come over to Maui some time and race, I think you would be impressed,we took 5 of the top spots in the sportsman races last year for the western division.
