Default c3 drive shaft help

Hi, I am looking to install a stronger drive shaft in my 79, It will see some street and track. I will be putting down around 1000 hp in the future and want to do it once, what are my options for a stronger drive shaft and a loop in the stock tunnel?

Thanks for replies.

is it a stick or automatic? you an put a 3" driveshaft in that tunnel but its a very tight fit. i run a stock steel 2.5" driveshaft in mine with solid u-joints. car has been 9.50's in the 1/4 and over 117mph to the 1/8th with no problems on a powerglide 1.4x 60's. i also have a loop

Thanks for the reply & pics. I was considering attempting a 2.75" thick wall driveshaft but don't know how well a driveshaft loop will fit.
I like your crossmember mod for the exhaust. What mufflers are those you are running?
Your exhaust is tucked up there nicely.

Its a full Custom ARH exhaust system. The driveshaft loop is extremely tight to the driveshaft right now.

I stuffed a 3" chromoly one in my 78 and its tight. I am going to have to beat on the tunnel a bit to get a loop in there but it'll work.

cant beleive you are running the stock unit Vettekid. Wish I knew it would hold up like yours is before I put the 3" in.
