Went to the track tonight. Gateway in St. Louis. DA was incredible. Negative for most of the night.

Track went to hell for the last half of the night. This was the first time to the track with the cam and the new RXT. I was spinning while cutting 1.6s. Made 22 passes (lol) and the clutch performed admirably for 6k slips on radials.

2009 M6
PatG 230/238 .629/.629 112+3 cam
LTs, catless mids, Corsa sport
DSX Tune
McLeod RXT
275/40-17 NT05R radials mounted on C5 wheels.

Very happy with it, I'll need some more track prep and some more seat time. First time out trapping 128 is great.

I'm going to shoot for them full weight. Every time I tried to really launch hard it'd spin. I'll need a better tire, or better track prep. Yet to be determined.

Dang, nice consistency though...sounds like you were light on gas at least, if you really ran out???

A hoosier 275/40 on a 17x9.5" C5Z rim will be stickier and have a better footprint at 16psi is what I'd recommend if you decide to switch dragradials, though next time I'm sure it'll happen!

I was hoping some of you guys would hop in. The NT05Rs may not have a faster 60 in them. MTs or Hoosiers will be next.

I was holding the throttle about 4k and stabbing the gas then slipping out about 6k I'd guess. I wasn't watching the tach. A gopro I was going to use to watch the gauges died.

The times I would really push hard and keep the RPMs up, it would spin. I don't think the track prep was there. They were letting street cars and trucks drive straight through the water box in front of me and pull up to the line. They also said it was too late and wouldn't put any compound down for me. My best 60s were all spinning. I may need to ride the clutch longer.

Also was very low on fuel. I'm guessing I'll try more fuel for weight next time also.

I've never cut 60s this fast, or pushed this hard on a stick car. First time out on the new clutch, cam, and tires. It's a learning experience and a good start. Just trying to find where to go from here.

Those passes would have been 'tens' all day long if you were in Jersey or Maryland!

Never been on a dyno. Full weight, with me (250lbs) trapping 128 should be near 490 to 500. But that's just some loose ricer math.

22 runs, that's nice. You're almost there. If losing 100 lbs lowers et by a tenth, you only need a week or two at weighwatchers. lol

Lol. I'm not skinny, but at 6'4" and a hobby of weightlifting, I'm not fat.

Hey Archie! Awesome runs man! Almost there. I wish I was there that night, but Im a few hundred miles away. I was looking at your timeslips and I see where mine either lacks in power or could be the shifting on my part. Where are you shifting at? I feel I need a new tune due to what we spoke about.

I know my clutch sucks and that's holding me back as well. I am thinking about either the gears or clutch. Also I may buy another halltech too. Another thing that has me thinking are the headers. I know yours are 1 7/8, but is the rest of the exhaust a full 3" all the way back? As you may remember mine are 1 3/4 and shorter primaries as well. At least it looks like in pictures.

I hope you can hit the 10s and deep dive within them.

Thanks! I'm shifting at 7k with a 7100 limit. My exhaust is 1-7/8s to 2.5" all the way back. 1-3/4 should be more than enough for what we want to do, but OBX aren't offered in 1-3/4.

I'd definitely invest in a clutch. It was nice being able to hot lap it without worrying. And FWIW, this RXT is now butter smooth and feels completely stock.

Our limiters are set the same way then and I tried to shift at 7k too, but my damn tach is slow verified with the hp tuners. Even with basically some of the same 60ft, mine traps the eight at 94-95 mph compared to yours 99-100! I guess it may be the damn clutch slipping at the top or just that LS7 oem intake isn't helping at all lol

So with the RXT completely broken in now, does driving around town feels the same? Any noises?

I guess a clutch, intake and tune is what I need to do. I really don't want to do the clutch myself, although I can get access to a lift on base Im somewhat unfamiliar with how to tackle it. Do you know any good mechanics in the area other than Chad to replace the clutch or are you up to the challenge on mine?

Lol I could do or help you do the clutch. It drives completely stock now after the track. It has some floater plate rattle in neutral but I can barely hear it over my exhaust. If you push in the clutch it goes away. It's a trait of twin disks. The center floater plate rattles around.

Watch your intake temps and keep them as low as possible. The car will be fastest hot lapping due to lower intake temps.

I was at Gateway last year beautiful facility, worst track prep I ever saw, too bad......

If they let cars with street tires drive right through the water box and up to the line, you were going to have nothing but problems.

From what I saw, a roundy-round racer bought the entire facility mainly for the Oval Track, the Drag Strip just came-along with it.

They have top of the line equipment there, far better than most tracks in the country have, but no one seems to know how to use it!

We hooked better on the streets outside of the track!

One last question, did you reuse the stock flywheel or it comes as a full kit? I may enlist your expertise when I get back. In the meantime I'll just enjoy watching you get the numbers and get better and better.
