P98 Racing Wins NMCA Atlanta!
At least that's what I saw from the run sheets.
Paul Jr ran through a tough field and came out victorious in the Bracket 2 class at the NMCA All Stars race in Atlanta, GA.
Congrats to Jr and Sr on a great outing!!

It was quite a weekend! We decided to run the Bracket 2 which pays $1000 for the win. It's no electronics, trans brake only. We have gone back to slicks from the drag radials we tried last year. It seemed that hitting the drag radials with the 390 diff and 285 1st gear off of the trans brake was to hard an initial hit. We lost 60' time and consistency and found most tracks not prepped for the drag radials. We felt the slicks were more forgiving to track conditions.
The car and Jr were right on after a shaky start to the weekend. We had one test Friday and ran a 6.20 with everything looking good. There were 2 test runs Saturday, one at 9:00 and one at 2:00. We decide to sleep in and skip the 9:00. We were warming the car up on jack stands for the 2:00 and noticed no charging on the alternator. This happened to us several years ago in Indy. Chances of finding a single wire alternator was slim so we considered calling it a weekend and heading home. We made a call and located one near Chattanooga, Tennessee. So we secured everything and headed that way. It was a 5 and one half hour trip to get it and head home.
We returned the next morning, put it on and it was the answer. We had one time run at 10:00 and competition started at noon. The test run was 6.18 so we dialed 6.17 for the 1st round. Paul Jr had good reaction times in the Friday run and the Sunday morning run, a .044 and a .047.
Jr went 7 rounds to win and won every way possible. He had 3 tough runs, a red light win in the final, a win because of a breakage by the competitor on the line and one bye run. His reaction times all had a 0 except for one and he had a 007. The car was dead consistent with a variance in the 60' times of .040 and the 330 of .046 for the weekend.
On Friday in the staging lanes a young man came up to Paul Jr, shhok his hand and told him that he was there the night Paul Jr won PINKS ALL OUT in Atlanta. He said Paul Jr signed his program that night. He was 12 years old that night and was now racing a black Nova in the brackets. That was special.
See y'all in Atlanta for the LSX Shootout.
