Lower tire pressure and traction control seemed off
Just a question. Last night I was at Englishtown for test and tune. I have a 2002 with an ECS supercharger (that I love). My first run was 11.549 at 120.54 mph, 2nd run was 11.812 at 117.63 mph. The car is an auto with Nitto drag radials. I was running the radials with around 28 psi. I launch using traction control since I am not that good without it. For the last run, I'm thinking let me lower the tire pressure to around 22. 3rd run I get to the lights with traction control on and floor it like I always do. Well I was spinning the tires at launch, lifted a bit, hit the gas again and kept spinning. The low tire pressure warning came on. The car acted like the traction control was off. Any ideas? I had the same problem at Atco but thought it was track prep. I am now thinking that if you lower the tire pressure too much, the traction control must turn itself off. Am I missing something?

I don't heat up the tires. I know most people run with traction control off but for me the traction control on helps me. I tried at Atco with traction control off and was getting terrible times. I was running in the 13s. I know it's me. I just can't get the car to hook without traction control. I have a little over 500hp at the wheels so I think mid 11s is reasonable for now.

I really think you need to heat up those drag radials for them to hook properly. I have a stock c6z06 and with a set of drag radials I'm running consistent 11.3's at 126mph.

My best 60 foot was 1.88. Not too good. I didn't think you had to heat up the drag radials. Maybe clean them off a bit. I used to run a different car with slicks and would always do a burnout. You have some nice times.

Thanks. I don't do a crazy burnout, just enough to heat the tires up until I start to see smoke. I've always used Mickey Thompson ET Streets. My best 60 foot was 1.68 and I have a 6-speed. I'm sure you'll easily be in the 10's with the power you're making if you can get those 60 times down and heat those tires up.
