Default Best Wheels/Tires for C5?

Guys, I'm currently running 17" Z06 rims, with MT ET Street Radial 275/40 R17 tires. I'd like a better combo.. like 16" wheels.. more sidewall and width. What is the best combo out there? Any ideas? I've got a about 460 to rear wheel, auto, with 3:42 rear. I'm spinning off the line. Not sure what to do yet to get to hook up.

Thanks,
JesseJay

I run 16" CCW's with 16 x 5 Firestone bias ply in the front and Hoosier 295-50-16 drag radials in the back on my 9 second street car at the track. My best sixty foot so far is 1.39. This setup in the rear is 28" tall and you may have to remove the inner fender liners or they will rub. This year I will be replacing the inner fender liners and will be running a Hoosier 255-50-16 drag radial which is 26" tall to try and improve my sixty foot.

You may also have to tap the upper ball joint cover down with a hammer so it doesn't rub the inside of the rear wheels.

Hope this info helps. BTW stick or auto?

Hey Bob. If you move the inner fender liners you have no problems with the 28 inch tall tires??

No problems running a 28" tall tire if the rear inner fender liners are removed Dave.

Dave, I run 28/10.5/16 M/T ET streets with no inner liners. One word of caution is during a hard launch the tire actually hits the outer fender and on the right side has cracked it. This only happens with the rear shocks set at 4 (QA-1) and a 1.40 60'. When they were set stiffer, I didn't have the issue.

Not sure what to do about it to fix it other than shock settings.
