My heads/cam C5 went 11.40's with a 2.56 gear on the NA tune (430 rwhp). I swapped the gear for a 3.42 and then had the motor retuned (pulled 8* of peak timing for the spray). On motor is still ran 11.40's after the rear swap and timing pulled (411 rwhp). My problem now is, traction has become a major issue.

How much cam and head work? I stayed kinda smallish on the cam. It's a COMP XER281. 232-234 @ .050" / .595"-.598" with a 112 LSA. Heads flow 305/220 @ .600". Bottom end is a stock crank, Probe forged 11:1s, Eagle 6.125" rods, King bearings, Mahle moly rings. Cometic .051" gaskets, COMP double roller, SLP oil pump, Scorpion 1.7s, 42# Racetronix, LS6 intake, 4L60E, and 3200 stall. Hell, I'd like to see and 11.7 on motor.

Hell.. you should see mid to low 11's just on motor!!! I have an 05 (A4) with a 2800 FTI converter, Kooks Headers, Ported intake, & a Tune by "Cartek" and I've run 11.59 in killer air (-800') in "normal air" I should run 11.7x with no problim...I have never had the heads off and the rest is stock (3.15 rear)

You probably mean 2.73 gears I assume?
C5 automatics came from the factory with either 2.73s or optional 3.15s.

Very cool, I'd figured you had to know him. We used to hang out at the tracks all of the time back in 2001-2004, he was like the lone LT1 guy among a sea of LS1 people, he was always a good guy.

I would try it.

I went 10.7/10.8s at over 127+mph with only 2.56 gears and under 400rwhp, but that was with a 6L80 (A6 with that steep 1st gear) in my bolt ons only C6 LS2.

That is very impressive to say the least.

Our setups are real close. Cam specs are the same, my heads might flow a little more. I have the stage 2.5 5.3 heads from Texas Speed. I am also running the racetronix 225 lph and LS6 intake. I have the stock rockers and a stock length pushrod. I have 1 3/4 longtubes and 3" all of the way out back. This year I am running a HKE built forged 347 with scat rods and a wiseco 3.905 piston. It now runs 10.50's at 130 on a 150 shot and 10.20's at 137 spinning bad on a 250 shot. You don't need a big motor to go fast. You just need a combo that works well and a good stall. I had a Circle D 4C+ with the first setup and a 2C now.
