5-12 Results: Vinny four in a row; Huff takes the 11.50; and Savarese wins brackets!
We are now at the mid point of the season. Trieschmann is leading the brackets, but Blauvelt with his runner up finish today is closing in. Hot shoe Steve Pistilli was sidelined with a grenaded motor today. Gray and Fischer are at the top of the 11.50 but Shuleski and Valponi are not far behind. 10.50? Well Vinny has opened up a 7 point lead and that is going to be tough for Junior and Fischer to overcome.
Here's today's results:
10.50 Final: In the 10.50 final it was again all Cupolo's: Uncle Vinny vs nephew Anthony. After qualifying side by side #1 and #2 respectively it was Vinny who again came out on top. Anthony did his job at the tree and was poised to take down Unc .033 vs .059 but as Walter would say "the car got stupid on him" going sideways at launch. Anthony had no choice but to lift and the race was effectively over when he spun.... Edgar? EDGAR??? WHERE ARE YOU???
11.50 Final: The 11.50 featured two first time finalists for this year, Peter Huff and Gary Hillen. Peter made his debut in his 01z A4 conversion. Peter is a a tough racer in a stick and he is going to be a force to be reckoned with in an auto. It took him only a few runs to adapt to the A4 and he quickly went rounds in both EFI and the 11.50. Gary did a great job taking the stripe by a fender (.014) but Peter's .024 light over Hillen's .084 forced Hillen to break out more than Huff. Huff ran a 11.44 to Hillen's quicker but losing 11.37.
Corvette Challenge brackets: It was another all Ralph black C4 final (deja vu?) - Ralph Savarese in the left lane and Ralph Blauvelt in the right. Both drivers had near equal lights in the .040's but Savarese closed up at the big end crossing first by.0115 to take the win. Ralph please see my memo that there are to be no repeat winners or champs in 2012
Please join me in congratulating all of our winners and runners-up!

Very preliminary points are up:
http://www.corvettechallenge.info/standings.php
Four different races and four different winners in the brackets and the 11.50! That's what I like to see, no repeat winners!
Vinny apparently doesn't understand my rule. Can he make it five in a row? Can anyone stop him?

Congrats to Ralph, Vinny and Pete, lots of fun racing today fellas.
Yeah a lot of people spun today (me included), especially in the right lane.
And even though I sort of knew this, in round two of the Corvette Challenge Ralph (Savarese) had kindly given me lane choice too yet I still chose the right lane
...I should've let him take the 'greasy' one instead (though I probably still would've lost because as Rich said above, red = bad ) LOL.

Thanks and congrats to the other winners and runner ups. In racing you need some skill and you need some luck. luck was with me all day today. I did cut a .000 light today!! It made the 3 hour tow home today more bearable.

Wow, What a day! 14 passes and the car just kept going. Thanks to Doug and the boys at ECS and Tommy for all the help with building this car. It has turned out to be everything I could have asked for.
Thanks guys. Congrats to the other winners and runner ups.

Congrats to all the winners it was a great day for racing. Props to Ralph B for taking out Bob T, my Brother Vin and Me, I guess it was asking too much to add The Great One ( Ralph S) to that list. It would be like Striking out Murders Row. lol. See you guys in June

Pete was 'good' with the manual...but he's now GREAT with the automatic.
He is going to be a true threat in the Pro 11.50 index from now on for sure. I think I picked the right year to not be in the 11.50 points chase LOL.
