Are green race cars bad luck????
I've heard this from time to time, not only drag racing but NASCAR as well. You don't see many green corvettes, lots of red,blues,silver/gray,white.I had a few greeen cars
GTO,Mustang GT AND LETS JUST SAY I WAS NOT HAPPY WITH EITHER OF THEM.The "Curse"struck the last day of the season taking a championship away at the last possible moment. Was the winner just real lucky or the Green car unlucky???We have a green car that is on a roll, good car, capable driver, is in his groove, hittin' the lites and runnin' his number...I heard Bill Jenkins say "I'de rather be lucky than good"me too.I wish no bad luck on anybody but i wouldn't own a green corvette. Will the curse strike at the worst possible moment? We'll see........

I've only owned one green car (an Emerald Green 1991 Mustang LX 5.0 notchback) and I absolutely LOVED it from the very day I'd ordered it until the day I (unfortunately) sold it.
Of the 16 or 17 cars I've owned over the years it is still in the top 3 (maybe even top 2) of my all time favorites/best ownership experiences.
So no, I don't go for those goofy ol' superstitions.
That one is pretty straight forward, no Cliff's Notes needed this time.

Actually the curse struck two years in a row. In 2009, I was leading the CC for 8 out of 9 events. In the final race, still in the lead, I just need to stay ahead of Farley to lock in the championship. I met with Farley in the 1/4's, he beat me and marched on three more rounds to win the event AND the championship.
Farley was 3 points behind me... I won my first round, and if I won the 2nd round I "think" I would have had it locked ... because if I lost in the 3rd round all Farley could have done was tie me, & I would have won on tie breaker .....
However ......well lets go back over that day again......

To the best of my knowledge, the green race car jinx originated with the USAC and Indy guys in the late forties. It was scoffed at by everyone but, then again, no one would paint their cars green. Are green cars bad luck? Don't know. However, what I consider to be bonified bad luck is green drivers.

There are certain green colors that I like ...
But, I had a friend years ago that was a used car salesman.
He always called a green color car ... "Loose Money Green"

Then there was Lawence Conley's Turbo Buick ... "Tweaked"
Mean and green!

Green is pretty universally considered bad luck in racing. Along with the number 13, peanuts in the shell, and $50 bills. You would not believe the aversion drivers have to these things...

The funny thing is, one of the most popular colors for sports cars back in the day was British racing green....all those famous drivers did not have a problem winning in green cars...
