The thing that I learned about drag radials, at least for my car and the mustangs do the same, is that they like to be hit pretty hard so that they dead hook. I know slicks don't like to be dead hooked and actually like wheel speed, but drag radials have to dead hook. If they start to slip, it's over usually. So this is why the shorter instant center seems to work good. It hits them hard. Now, the second thing I learned is that they don't act like slicks when you hit them. It was explained to me that they act like basketballs. If you slam one down, it bounces right back due to the stiff sidewalls. This is why you see people hook up go a few feet and then blow the tires off. They aren't maintaining or controlling the rebound. You want to hit them (separate the tire from the wheel well) and then have the shocks slowly allow the tire to come back up into the wheel well. Of course when you add a big torque spike like nitrous, you can only do so much. That's when the electronics comes into play and you ramp it in or pull timing on the hit and ramp it back in to cut the power a little. Most of my 60's are usually 1.32 and that is carrying the front tires past the 60' beams, so I'm tripping the timer with my back tires. I'm working on that this year. The last race I did I tightened my front shocks extension all the way and it only picked the front up 12" and actually bogged the motor a touch. So, I think I could have started the nitrous much higher than 10%, but that was the last day the track was open so I'll have to wait a couple more weeks now.

Got my new transmission today, and my heads shipped Friday. Hopefully I can get some testing in before the race at the end of the month and I'll post something more up to date.

Haven't raced mine since 2008... Actually put it up for sale.. Best was 9.47 @ 145.30 on a 100 shot of nitrous.. Car should be capable of 8's with a light driver and the full 250 shot..

NCCC 2B Corvette
On a slower side, here's mine - a '65 Vette with a legal NCCC 2B motor (LT-1 350; heads may not be ported, but can be blueprinted), stock LT-1 corvette manifold, Holley 750 HP, 4.11 gears, TH-350, foot braked, and 30-30 equivalent cam, running 235-60-15 MT ET Street radials...
Sans bumpers, the car ran a best of 1.58" 60 foot and 11.45" 1/4 at Gateway; and at Thunder Valley (Noble, OK), it ran a 11.474" at an elevation of 1,165', which corrects to 11.34" at sea level.

That's a killer smallblock! There's a lot of thought that went into running those times with those parts! Sweeeett!

Well, I have a 67 coupe with a stock rear end...though I have added the drag vette parts. I have to leave pretty easy to protect that delicate hind end. My 540 has the power though. foot brake, 3:36 gears elevation is usually around 7000' though the track is at 5500' this weekend I ran a best of 695 at 101. (1/8) Still sorting the car and letting it shift early until I am sure it isn't going to scoot sideways on the shift. Turbo 400. 3000 converter so it leaves kinda gentle like. Car feels good and no problems yet.Drag radials with a 60' best at 1.58. Its a real fun car. Rather noisy even with the sidepipes and hogged out mufflers so not a lot of street driving. It is legal though. oh ya...I do autocross it too.
