Default Shen clinches 9.50; Wells wins 10.50; Ellis 11.5 champ; Blauvelt CC hat trick

Since Edgar is busy I''ll give a recap.

In the 9.50, after a lot of controversy it was all over when David Harris had an engine failure in Q1, essentially handing the title to David Shen. Shen ran against a racer who went 9.20 @ 148.25 [perhaps someone else can fill in the details of who this racer was].

In the 10.50, Shawn Cavanagh crowned the champ last week went out early when he went red in round #1. In the end it was Stephen Wells over Marshall Brown.

In the 11.50, Ellis Gray did the impossible. We can now call him "Mr. November" for his exemplary performance over the last 3 weeks. In order to take the title Ellis had to win 2 rounds more than yours truly OR if we were both to make it to the final he would have to qualify #1 AND win the event to collect the 5 point bonus (for winning the event and qualifying #1). Well that's exactly what Ellis did. We both made it to the final, he beat me at the tree and the deficit was too much for me to overcome.

In the Corvette Challenge. It was the year of the Ralphs but this time it was Ralph Blauvelt who entered the record books by virtue of winning 3 EVENTS IN A ROW!!! Yes three! BTW, someone named Ralph won 60% of the 10 points events this year. Ralph faced Rob Farley in the final. Far_ley had the advantage at the tree and closed in fast at the big end but it was Ralph's win light that was turned on. Oh yeah another one for the record books, Ralph Savarese recorded a highest ever 50 points for the season.

Well another year has been entered in the logbooks. Congrats to everyone on a very successful year! And top 16 drivers look for your invitation on Monday.

Amazing stuff right there, I'm almost glad that I went out early just so that I could watch that one firsthand LOL.
4 points, that's what it came down to after 10 races/nearly 9 months of battle and amassing over 700+ points each, just 4 points separate you guys.
You did an awesome job all season Eric, truly stellar driving in both the 11.50 and the brackets as well.

Wow, way to go Ralph B.
Looking back, I think Ellis has been on fire ever since the Wasp, Bee, Hornet stinging, need more data before it's marketed
Unkl Ralph - 50 - pts "the Machine" from Mohepac, I knew we should have sent his butt down to Ga for the 2k big wheel race.
Wells - now we know Redgar is his kryptonite
Shawn - like a Timex, aside from a flung/slipping belt that Vette just keeps on ticking no matter what index he runs it in.
Eric - congrats on a successful season and great write ups, now we need to take up a collection to get you a camera for Saturdays and maybe sell popcorn too.

Eric,

Thanks for posting up.
Congrats to Shen, Ellis & Blauvelt!

For once I was able to capitalize on my #1 Qualifying position, too little too late though.
The 5 bonus points that went with the win didn't do much for me since Shawn already clinched it.

Tommy nor I are sure, but I may have secured 2nd place in the 10.50 points with this win?
We'll have to see when Edgar & RP total them up.

Very tight racing all season between Shawn, Tommy and myself.
Then as you know Edgar came on strong once he got his car back, making many final rounds.

This series is Great, This class is Great and you fellow racers are Great.
I had a Great time, it couldn't have been better.
(well maybe a little better )

I am already looking forward to next season with all of the new 10.50 players that are coming on board!

See you all next week for the Big Heads-Up race!

At first I'd thought you did grab 2nd but now I'm not sure because I wasn't factoring in the one round that Tommy had won prior to you beating him.
He had a 35 point lead going in, he won a round (20 more plus his qualifying points) but then you went 3 rounds plus the 5 point bonus (65 more for you) so maybe you did get it by just a few points?
And to think you were considering not even racing today LOL.

Wow, 3 in a row for Ralph B? That's awesome - congrats to him! That jumps him up to 2nd in points. Also worth noting is that by virtue of making the 5th round, Bob T jumped up to 5th in points from 12th. Mr Mojo also rejoined the top 10 in 9th.

Here's the way I see it, unofficial of course:

#1 Shawn 634 + 10 + 4 + 20 = 668
#2 Wells 513 + 10 + 8 + 20 + 60 + 5 = 616
#3 Tommy 548 + 10 + 4 + 20 + 20 = 602
#4 Edgar 538

And here are the unofficial top 3 for the 11.50

#1 Ellis 646 + 10 + 8 + 20 + 80 + 5 = 769
#2 Eric 670 + 10 + 5 + 20 + 60 = 765
#3 Farley 557 + 10 + 7 + 20 + 40 = 634

Congrats guys!!!

Thanks for the update Eric. What a great racing season.

And thanks to all the challenge racers for making me feel like a part of this great series, answering my dumb questions, giving me pointers along the way.

I'm looking forward to next year.

That would be Mike Conway (Shen's teamate) one of the guys involed in last week's controversy/ambush, which advanced Shen past Harris.
The same guy that said, he was going to stay out of the race so Dave & Dave can battle it out.
