Sunday May 24th at E'town is The National Dragster Challenge. This is a chance for a racer to win an NHRA Wally in four classes. The Wallys are won in Super Pro, Pro ET, Street ET, and Motorcycle.
This event is run with the regular Sunoco Super Challenge Points Series.
So if you want a chance to win a Wally get there early. I know for a fact it will be crowded.

Well I haven't raced in a month. Going to double enter on Sunday and run Pro and Street in the 14 second Mustang. I'll be driving down from the campsite in Bushkill Falls Pa. I may have to leave earlier than normal. The campsite is 104 miles away. My usual trek to E-town is only 100 miles.

I've seen video of you racing. Do yourself a favor and stay home.

I know I will not make it. The Vette is trapped in the trailer. The trailer is in the back yard witht he truck in the driveway without a fuel pump. The replacement fuel pump will arrive Tuesday. Ugggg. I thought I could attend.
I'll be there running points top street as usual in the super sunoco series. I'm hoping to NOT be out 1st round like every week. I dunno....I'm not gonna quit but.....I don't know why sundays seem so much more difficult than saturdays. I love the corvette races. Sundays are a totally different thing. I def entered the hardest class. Each week I am lucky to even qualify!!! If anyone from our CC races are there, please come say hi. I could always use a boost from a familiar CC racer.
Hope to see some people there and good luck to everyone who enters!
Should of taken Web-Air's advice. After a month’s absence I returned to the track Sunday in an attempted to win a Wally. Well not even close. I double entered in Pro and Street. Got 3 time shots and went into round 1 of Pro ET.
I ran a 14.318 in the last time shot so I decided to hold a few and dialed a 14.33. Got a 10.40 opponent and felt good since this is the limit of me being able to judge on the top end of the track. Went in and left first and my opponent got an instant win light. I went red. I ran the car out the back door to get another “time shot” for the next class. I ran a 14.316. Other car was .055 on the tree and ran a breakout 10.389. I took stripe by .0534, which is ½ a car length. Ok was a very winnable race. Onward and upward.
Kept the 14.33 dial and went into first round of street. This opponent was a 1 ton diesel truck dialed 15.43 with 2 Raceway Gold win stickers on the window. Staged and hit my spot on the tree. Ok no red lights here we go. I caught the truck just after the 1000’ marker and stabbed the break pedal several times, took stripe by .0625, which is a little more than ½ a car or tuck length. Got the win light. Time slip showed that I was .016 on the tree and ran a 14.394 on the breaks. I used the 1000’-1/4 split time from my Pro elimination time slip and calculated that I would of run a 14.320. Truck driver had a .167 RT and ran a breakout 15.405. Ok that’s better next round.
Drew another points racer in Street round number two. We both prefer the right lane and after loosing the coin toss I moved into the left lane for the first time that day. I kept the 14.33 dial to his 17.0. Staged and hit my spot and once again the win light came on the other side of the track. Another red light loss. Ran the thing out and took strip by a car and a half. Mustang ran a 14.307 in the left lane with my .-011 red light. Again opponent gave me a big window by cutting a .045 light and running flat out to a 17.052.
Regrouping for next week. I need to take .020 out of the car’s launch. I have a few thing left in my bracket racers bag of tricks to try. Still was really nice to finally get out to the track again.

You know I was really pulling for you. It just wasn't your day. Get rid of that practice tree and get some real seat time. Then you'll be in the winners circle.
was a cool event, but i left a little frustrated. went .018 first round and my car slowed 2 tenths from the previous time shot out the back door. opponent was .027 and ran the dial. hopefully my car's more consistent at the next real street event.

That's tuff when you do your job on the tree and the car lets you down. I try to keep my car fully warmed up for each run. Same temps (eng water, trans, and eng oil) first time shot to round robin at the end. My experience is that GM cars are very sensitive to water temp changes. Running even 10 degrees hotter really slows the car down. I don't know your setup. A 160 thermostat and the fans set to come on sooner helped my 95 LT1 cars and the "99 LS1 vette. A "bracket tune" will also help stabalizing ET's. Maybe someone here can recomend a tuner for you. Good luck on your next time out.

Kazman gave you good advice. Always run hot. I have a 160 thermostat and in hot weather I have the fans come on at 160 deg. In cooler weather I set them to come on at 170 deg. I always launch at 175 deg engine temp and I make sure the trans is at 140 deg.
Get a good bracket tune and run your rear tire pressure set for the worse track conditions you ever encounter. Take a hard look at your time slips and try to figure out where you're losing the time. Is the trap speed also slower?
I have walked in your shoes and you can fix it. Do not just hope it will be more consistent next time because it won't.
