Another good reason for NOT running the NHRA Poweraide or LODRS series.

Love there justification. "due to the economy"....lol. Aren't they supposed to be helping racers "due to the economy"????? They're not getting enough people in the gates, so they'll stick it to those who can least afford it. Wonder how much of a pay cut Compton took, "due to the economy"

Seems to me that NHRA just plain wants to get rid of the Sportsmans Classes all together.

it really sucks for those of us that have class cars, as bracket racing them just isnt really an option

Sell your stocker engine, build or buy a decent bracket engine, put some money in your pocket and go racing. And you can do it all in one day and not have to travel. It aint that bad

Good luck Chad.

with the 68 car being an original 435 car, it would go back on the street. but a suitable replacement could be found

I must have missed this part at the start of the season anouncement.
NHRA is going to screw you this year ,so don't run your points in the 9.99 or 135 class this year.
NHRA can kiss my---> ( | )
My license is due to renew in May again.
I still can't figure out why I can drive my car on the street and NHRA wants me to pay money like the state to drive on just a 1/4 mile strip.
I think the state has a better deal for the money.
I would think with the world in the crapper, they would lower the price.
Sounds like another BANK scam Insurance ? sounds like AIG is incharge now
The insurance only pays after your insurance is exausted ,you only get 480k anyway.
NHRA BS ing everyone again.
Thanks for letting me vent

well for starters the state will give a license to anyone with a pulse ( NHRA just requires a Dr to verify the pulse). There are plenty of licensed drivers that i would never want to line up next to because of their lax attitude towards safety, and lack of respect for just how fast they are going. Some of them post on this forum and even managed to get a NHRA license

Default Same old song and dance...

I've been follwing this story on some of the other forums, and while I'm not surprised at this, what I can tell you is this:

Initially racers are going to bitch about it... then go right back to NHRA (like a battered wife). There's just no viable alternative to some of the classes, and until there is, NHRA has the racers by the ***** (and they know it, hence their attitude).

Reading what Fletch and others have said about a boycott is just exactly that.. talk. There's NO way anybody's going to sit out an event unless there's an alterative. Remember Gainesville two years ago? The Sportsman racers bitched, moaned and threatened... and caved right in. Plus... what about the sponsor's input on some of these cars?

What Sportsman racers need is an organization similar to PRO. I remember Teuton forming what he called the Sportsman Racers Association back in '99 and I joined it... and promptly never heard anything from them again, save for a neat pair of decals they sent me which are on my car still.. are they still around? If they are, where the hell are they on this?

Talk is cheap, fellas... and that's exactly what Glendora thinks.

I don't have an IHRA track anywhere near or I would race there in a New York millisecond...I think the closest for me is Immokalee and that is 4 hours each way...

A lot easier to boycott with a smaller group but isn't that what ihra pro stock drivers did to ihra last year? If I recall only 1 car showed up to one of the races in Canada
