this is a reminder that the Nov 8 Pro 8 Shootout is the completion of the April 12th Pro 8 Shootout for which we have already completed one round of qualifying. That round of qualifying stands.
You will run ONE test pass, the first pass.
Then all entries, returning and new will participate in the second qualifier.
If you qualified in the first session in april, you must drive the same car you used to keep that first qualifying number. If you choose to drive a different car, then the first qualifier will be thrown out and you will only get the second in that the new car.
This is no different than if we had gone into the second qualifier on April 12th.
Here are are the current qualified drivers.
1. Mark Shaw 9.204
2. Edward Monari 9.294
3. David Shen 10.104
4. Michael Conway 15.336
Mike, I was not there. I presume Eddie was in the C4 and you were in the C5 that day?
Correct. Only your second pass of the day will count toward qualifying for any new entries. The four listed above count for those guys but 2 of them do not meet the 9.99 min.

Edgar, let's revisit this. I am assuming we are rained out this Saturday which is the make up for 10/25. 11/22 is now the date for the makeup of 11/8. This race is the continuation of the April 12 race where we get one pass to qualify. The operative word is continuation. Why the "practice" pass? If this is a continuation then I think the first pass is the final qualifying pass for the 4 that were there and the only qualifiying pass for new entries. If additional racers are going to enter why wouldn't we treat this as is they were late to the track and they missed the 1st qualifier but arrived in time for the second qualifier? As you state, this is no different than if we had gone into the second qualifier on April 12th. Should be 1st pass = 2nd qualifier or only qualifier. No practice pass first. A practice pass after is fine.

Not splitting hairs. I simply don't see this as a continuation if we have a practice pass before getting to the 2nd (or only) qualifier. It gives an advantage to those that didn't make the original event and doesn't recognize those that made it to the original. How do you call it a continuation if we are adding a 3rd pass the way you have described?
Granting a 2nd (or 3rd) pass that is truly practice in order to better understand the track conditions or ones car is understood and acceptable in my view as long as it happens after the qualifying run. My objection is not to the additional pass but to the order of the qualifying runs. I don't understand your logic about the 2nd qualifier coming around noon. What does that have to do with a continuation?
I'm not being adversarial, I just don't see the logic of makng rules that favor those that were not there for the original race.
1 practice then 1 qualify is fine with us. We do have a few new racers that I'm sure can use the pass on a .400pro tree... that is if we race Saturday

Whatever. Let's just make up the rules as we go along. Just don't call this race a continuation.
it doesn't bother me either way buddy. I think Edgar said it was going to be like this awhile ago, or when the makeup date was posted. We wont call it a continuation, we will call it a Make up continuation. the make up the rules is part of the "makeup" .
i agree with Edgar just so we can help more guys make the show.
Mark I want to make sure we are on the same page.
The 4 racers that were there get the first pass as well as the 2nd qualifier.
This is equal to all racers and does not benefit new entries any more than it benefits returning entries.
Now of the four racers, only you are returning with your car. Eddie is using the red car which is different so his 1st qual will not count, Mike is switching so his first is not counting and Shen is not make the race. Conway and Shen were not even quick enough to get in.
If the race were held the next day and none of the drivers had any passes between quals then I would tend to agree with what you are saying but let's face it, this is an april race and all the drivers have had ample passes before the 2nd qualifier..again I think all are on the same boat.
We have other alternatives.
We can scrap 4/12 and start brand new.
We can make both passes qualifiers on the 22nd and thus you will have gotten three and every one else two.
We leave at as planned
As for making up rules as we go along, we have no choice, this has never happened before and it has not been brought to our attention before.

I'm OK Edgar. Recognize that I benefit by the way it is currently defined. I have a brand new combo that is untested and the "test" pass is in my favor.
I understand that Mike and Eddie are "starting over".
Let's just try and get as many particpants as we can in the Pro 8.
