Dave Dowdell is the 2008 West Coast Corvette Challenge Champion

Since our home track, Los Angeles County Raceway, closed last summer we began racing as a group in the NHRA Summit Series. We kept score by how many rounds each of us won. We raced at Fontana, Bakersfield, and Las Vegas this year and Dave Dowdell came out on top. Dave was four rounds ahead of runner-up Javier Navarro going into the last race in Bakersfield, but Javier had a first round red light. In the last event Dave won six races including a re-run to make it to the final. He ran a 12.92 on a 12.92 dial but was slightly bested on the tree. Helluva way to conduct a Series like that, at revolving tracks, but it beats having NO Series, and it makes the competitors better-rounded racers when they face different opponents all the time:
