Default New best 60' time

I got a new best 60' time of 1.326 at Carolina Dragway. I am still having vavle train issues so the overall ET and especially the mph is not there yet. I ran 10.001@133.42, 10.061@132.43, 10.015@132.66 and 10.020@135.21. Last time I ran there in similar conditions I was running 9.94-9.97 at 135-137 with 1.340-1.347 60' times, so the fact that I am losing power above 5800 rpms is really affecting the top end speed. I will get it figured out soon though.

It's interesting that you mention that. I have noticed that the day after I get home from the track, sometimes I do have a stiff neck. I know one thing for sure, the first pass that I made the other night was a 1.330 in 60' and I don't think that my eyes could have been anymore open. I'm sure that I looked like I had seen a ghost.

That is some 60'!

Glad to hear things are working out for you.

Sounds like a change of springs might cure the problem?

Keep us posted.

Keith, I think that the pushrods helped but I apparently have other problems as well. I might be talked into coming to florida sometime. I know several of my friends have always wanted to race down there so maybe if I get my car working properly we can take a road trip over the winter. Which tracks are the best to run at in gator country?

Thanks Steve. The springs are the first thing that I am going to change. Hopefully that will fix the problem.

I just changed my springs! I guess a 100 runs is to many for them.I was down to 150 psi on the springs.I went with the Howard 740's and she runs like a new car.
Wear your collar and you will feel a differance.
I reset mine to have 60 thou from coil bind and It realy made a differance ,it brought the temp down 25 degreesIt also took care of the RPM problem, now I can take it up until she blows.

Thanks for the info. I hope that a change of valve springs is all I need to fix my upper rpm problem. I have been to Lahaina several times and wish I was there now. It is a cool place in the islands. My wife and I are planning a trip back to Hawaii next year to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary.

Thanks rob. If I can get this engine to pull past 5800, 9.8s should be no problem. Your latest times still blow my mind. 138 mph. WOW!

They don't call it that for no reason. Carolina prepares their track as good as any track I have ever been to. It has always been able to handle all the power I could throw at it.

Default Hook Up

Danny,WOW, quite a 60'. Our best time ever a 1.363 was at the House of Hook. If your heading to Florida this winter let us know and we'll jjoin you as you pass through Atlanta. We're going to Montgomery Motorsports Park this Friday. They have a $10,000 footrake only challenge Friday and Sunday and a $100,000 Challenge on Saturday. The weather looks great so we're going to try the red and black car on Friday.

Thanks Paul. I was amazed as my first pass was 1.330. It felt increadible. If I plan a trip to florida I will certainly let you know but it doesn't look promising after what I found while doing a leak-down test last night. I hope that you and Chuck run great in Montgomery. Tell Phil that I said hello and let me know how the weekend turns out.
