Default THANKS TO FLP, FLT, ECS, & RPM JR's C5 went 9.25 @ 146 TODAY!

Dan Bills the owner of FLP, Chuck Johnson the owner of Finish Line Transmission, Doug & Chris of ECS, and Rodney the owner of RPM Transmission deserve ALL THE CREDIT FOR WHAT HAPPENED TODAY AT BYRON DRAGWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Most of you know my saga of wanting to drive a TRUE STREET LEGAL 9 SEC. C5. I have been resisting going away from the "Corvette" configuration just to "GO FAST" So all those guys helped me put together a mostly traditional C5 with a 427, PROCHARGER, IRS, 4L60E etc., etc., etc. running at about 1,000 HP - unbelievable but true!!

This year my C5 ran in the mid 9.50's, Dan Bills worked with me to get it down into the mid 9.40's in hot weather. Last week I tried to see what would happen in cool weather but tire spin kept me in the 1.59 60' range although I ran a 9.41 a new PB.

Today I went to The "Playground of Power" Byron Dragway knowing they would have great track prep as they were preparring for the World Famous Wheel Stand Contest going on tomorrow. The DA was 1280. I left both of my stock 50 lb. seats in and my 1/2 tank of gas.

First run was at 12.75 lbs., a bit low but oh well. The launch was strong (1.44 60') but mid way in 1st gear all hell broke loose. Violent Wheel Hop like I never felt before so I got out then back in and an 9.57 @ 146. Track guys said it was "TIRE SHAKE" can you believe that! tire shake in a C5 ?????????????????????????????????????? JOHN FORCE HAS TIRE SHAKE NOT JR!!!

Second run after watching some of the hotter cars launch I upped the tire pressure to 13.25 lbs. did a LONG SMOKEY BURNOUT and let er rip!! Launch was great (1.35 60') a 5.91 1/8th mile AND A 9.25 @ 146 1/4 mile. FOR SURE A NEW PB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IF IT WASN'T FOR THOSE GUYS I MENTIONED MY C5 WOULD BE IN PIECES AFTER THAT "TIRE SHAKE"

DO I DARE THINK 8'S ????????????????????? NAW!! MAYBE NEXT YEAR!

JR
