I spoke to the driver and he said his supercharger belt snapped - power steering goes when that happens. Glad to see he was all right.

Saw the car at ECS on Saturday night RIP

This thread is useless w/o pics and video to understand this Sorry to hear to the racer and hope he is ok. This is always one of my curiosities. If you do it, you basically have to pay to fix it yourself right?

First, I’m happy the driver is OK, and walked away without a scratch.

I was driving the other Corvette in the right lane. When I didn’t see him next to me, I looked into my rear view mirror. I saw him cross into the right lane and crash into the wall, a very scary sight.

I slowed my car down and flicked on the radio, where the announcer said the driver was climbing out of the car and seemed to be OK. BTW, the announcer, whose name I don’t know, handled it like a real pro.

I thought the crash resulted from a hard power shift from 1st to 2nd, and it spun out of control. I don’t know how the power steering could affect a ¼ mile run. Either way, the driver came out unscathed, and that’s the important thing.

I don't think it is useless without video and pictures. I chose not to shoot it.

Thanks for the pic torch, I completely understand what happened now.

P.S. I wasn't asking for pics out of ignorance as more so of pic of what the car looked like after the hit to know how bad it was for the driver, if its a easy fix in good hopes and video via every thing to me is a learning tool good and bad. You see what happened, you find out what caused it and figure how to prevent if you can. In alot of cases you can't do anything but hold on but if i can learn something from it I'll take that. I replied in the racers thread aswell. So dont throw any of those stones before knowing everything

Once again glad to hear the racer was ok and the car is unfortunate. However someone did have a great idea IMO that make the drivetrain etc a doner for a kit car of choice.
