MOROSO MOTORSPORTS PARK TEMPORARILY CLOSES DRAG STRIP AND ROAD COURSE FOR MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR RENOVATION

WEST PALM BEACH, FLORIDA, APRIL 25th, 2008
Moroso Motorsports Park announced today that their drag strip and road course will close for renovations on May 19 and re-open in the of Fall '08 with new and improved tracks. During this period, the kart track will remain open and available to the Public.

The newly reconfigured 2-mile road course will be 40 feet wide, feature several areas of paved run-off and adhere to the highest FIA safety standards. Soft wall barriers will compliment the tire barriers and concrete walls. The redone drag strip will be concrete to the 660' and have retaining walls extending to the shutdown area. Compulink will provide the fiber optic timing and scoring system. Highly-regarded industry experts Bob Harrington and Wayne McMurtry have been brought on as consultants for the reconstruction project. Harrington's expertise lies in years of unsurpassed road course development and McMurtry has a proven history developing some of the country's finest drag strips. Together, their demonstrable knowledge will provide the best of both racing worlds for Moroso's loyal drivers and fans. With one of the most well-respected track operators in the country, George Case as the new Director of Drag Race Operations, Moroso Motorsport Park has put together a winning team that will deliver on grand expectations.

"This has been a long time in the making," stated Susan Moroso Strecker, CEO of Moroso Motorsports Park. "Our customers have supported us unconditionally and we are so excited to give them the facility they deserve."

Moroso Motorsports Park is located on 200 acres of wooded property in NW Palm Beach County and hosts more than 850 events annually. With auto racing being the #1 spectator sport in the country, events at the Park draw an estimated one million people per year, with media coverage impacting several million more. As a result, Moroso Motorsports Park has created an economic impact on Palm Beach County and surrounding areas in excess of $25 million.

Racers and fans can be kept up-to-date on the project by visiting www.racemoroso.com For more information, contact: Susan Moroso Strecker, 561-622-1400

..... are these some, or all, of the renovations that were planned for last year?

George Case was Track Manager @ Maple Grove Raceway in Reading for more than a dozen years, and while I've heard complaints about his methods (I never experienced anything bad in my infrequent trips there), no-one can question Case's ability to bring-in and keep event Sponsors:
I knew he'd been relieved from duties at MGR, but didn't know he'd resurfaced at MMP..... you may've got a good-one there.

As for the renovations, I don't know as I have not seen the 2008 blue prints.
I believe they looked at George for awhile and enticed him with green backs since they really wanted him.

I was sitting at a table while at a Division One Banquet (musta-been about '92-'94), and when the Top Alcohol Dragster Champion was given his season-ending bonus, Case snorted

"My SPORTSMAN-Class Champion at the Grove wins more than that!"

I guess we now have to find something to do all summer - (more go fast mods) It will be great to have a brand new track to run on just in time to avoid those summer night saunas! Now I must avoid road race temptation Seriously though if all goes well we should have a great venue to compete at come fall and be the envy of rest of the country as we are running 1/4's on the new track in January in shirt sleeves.

I am glad that Moroso finally made it official!! As i mentioned in the last drivers meeting, they will be keeping the track open just long enough to run one more Challenge night.

This WILL NOT be the last points night!! We will have at least one more event for the 2008 season when they reopen.

Also, keep in mind that we will continue to meet on the scheduled dates for other events. The June 21st event will be a go cart event at either Moroso or Xtreme indoor go-carting in Ft. Lauderdale. I am not sure about the July event. Any suggestions for fun things to do?

There will be 5 points given to everyone that attends these events. All "points" events will be held in either Broward or Palm Beach. I would like all challenge racers to keep in touch with me during the track renovations. Let's have some fun during this off time!!

Alright, along with the go-karts (AT MOROSO) How about PAINT BALL? We can give the coordinators of each Challenge the flag, and the RACERS can attempt the KILL. That would be 3 coordinators being chased and SHOT AT by 100 racers Hmmm.... INTERESTING odds there

Guys, the devil made me do it

However, by the time Moroso reopens I'll have so much wax on my vette that it will cut the air so quickly no one will see the pass. To this I give myself a big

Honestly, I will try to make it out on 5/17 to watch. My track days are done

Ah....Jeff is taking a chapter from Bob's book of "Wax Racing"...talk smack but don't show up to represent. Heck, I am out there...even with my Vette being as slow as Bob's was at his last Test & Tune. Come on Jeff...run it down the track. Without the bars, you can't go any lower than 11.5, so it will just be a Sunday drive speed for your Vette.

By the way, I love the paintball idea!!! I will look into that first thing Monday morning. There is one condition though, "back seat coordinators" have targets on their backs too so you better get those legs ready Bob!!!
