Default A Thank you to ALL who have supported me in the past..

I'm sorry to say that I'm not able to continue to support the John Panuzzo Jr. Memorial Reaction Time Award for the best first round reaction time in the Corvette Challenge. I established this award in 1997 in honor of my son who died in an automobile accident and for my love for the sport of drag racing, but I can no longer afford to fund this sponsorship. My wife and I would like to thank those of you who have helped us maintain this award over the last several years in rememberance of our son. We wouldn't have been able to continue as long as we have without your support and we sincerely appreciate it.

John & Roberta Panuzzo.

John, I and I'm sure I speak for the rest of the challenge drivers, don't want to see this award end. I'm positive that the award can and should continue in its present form, please let us know what we can do to help keep it going. Dan

John, I think I speak for everyone that we will always be reminded of your son when we are at the track racing.

Fact of the matter is Raceway Park wants $750 for any specialty award (one per event or one per year) that we give out. It is a sponsorship that they feel is worth $750 and if they do not get it, they will still give us the trophy but will not call it what we want to call it.

We go through this every year and every year we get the same answer.

Sorry guys.

I can try and talk to them again after I get back from vacation

Well, I already offered for my company to donate $500 to any cause John wishes in return for the Pro Tree challenge. I think this is a worthy cause.

John is concerned about overheating his car (yeah, right, more likely concerned about a guy half his age and with 1/10 of his experience spanking his ***) so if there's anyone else who's willing to step up and lend me a car for the contest then we'd be only $250 away from the e-town price tag.

I'm all ears.

$750 is doable. If someone sets up a pay-pal account, I would bet that 75 people would pledge a $10 bill for a great cause.
If so, I am in.

If it's on a day that I'm present, you can use my car. JP's and mine are nearly identical. He's just s alight bit quicker though.

Thanks, Frank. It's just a reaction time challenge on a .400 pro tree so the e.t. won't matter. I can even get out of it if you're not comfortable with me harnessing your hp for the entire 1/4 mile

Guys

Good news.... Last yr Neil Fine helped me out with Enough $ for for me to continue to have a 1st round trophy... (Thank you Neil my wife & I won't forget)

Well this yr I have received many offers from people to help... and it looks like I will be able to continue to have a 1st round trophy for "Best Winning Reaction Time" I want all to know besides the name "John Jr. Reaction" award, I just want all the racers to have a shot at another chance of getting a trophy, & a few $$ if I get enough...

Please lets all give Paul Z a big thanks for helping this yr & Neil Fine for last yr..... There are also other racers who have offered to help me financially with this award..

If any of you guys help out.. the money I get will be a "CASH PRIZE" in addition to the trophy given out by RP

I'm not the best at putting my feelings in words, but originally I was going to do this for 1 yr in memory of my son, however because of all my friends and fellow racers who WONT let it end, with their help I will continue to have it... I'm sure you guys realize I'm now retired & my income just ain't what it was when I started this...

I just don't want to come across as looking for a "Handout" Honest it really makes me feel great when a new racer wins it..

Just as a side note I felt "REALLY" good at the last race of last yr.. when "My Hired Gun" Jeanne Linke wont it at the final race of the yr... it was sorta special.. and she won the event also...

So to all of you who offered to help & I said I doubt it... I guess the "Big Man Upstairs" would like to see it continue, & with your help it will..

Thank You all !

I only listed $10 because it is very affordable for anyone. I certainly will step up with more, and I guarantee others would as well. It for a great cause.
Keep the memory alive.
