I have to make a choice as to which class to run & 5 is about all I can make on a weekend and then backfill it with the Index races at ATCO during the week.
Plan is to run the pro-8 and 8.50 index at ATCO.
Any plans to change running the pro-8? I worry that this will get dropped. It has been a tough year with car count but hopefully will pick up as we get some more cars finished and driver's licensed.
Ah yes you touched on another very important topic.
The Fate of the Pro 8!
Truthfully I am very down on the Pro 8 right now.
We may be at a corner where yet another change has to happen to the Pro 8. Frankly I don't see where we are ever going to have 8 Corvettes. There are just not enough Corvettes out there.
We do have to kick around other options for the Pro 8 such as
Going back to 4 cars
Doing it only once a year and not having it as a points series but more of an exhibition event.
Open it up to slower cars but then it is just another Pro 10 with a quicker car or two cleaning the clocks of the 10.0 racer and thus still not getting us to 8 cars
Alan, we are lucky to have kept the 8.50. When setting up the index we wanted an 8.50 class but did not go forward with it for several reasons and consistency of racing surface for that ET on a Saturday/street car day is a major concern.
Payout is another. We do it with our Vettes more for the joy and being together but ohter cars in that ET range are really looking to recoupe some of their expenses if they can. Our 10.0 Index class (not Pro 10.0) is a good example. Atco pays like $700 to win that and gets 25-30 cars. E-town pays $250 and we have not had full field at all.
Interesting thing is it pays more than our Pro 10.0 ($250 to $100) but we don't see a lot of crossover not to mention none of our Pro 10.0 racers go to the higher payout Atco (although it is on Thrusday) race.

Although if there were another series out there with as many races as the cc, I can def. say it would sway me to become more actively involved and either make my ride faster or get my behind into a faster car

I think if you had more dates, You will have more interest in the class. The 10.00 class is an ideal class. You dont need much of an investment to run the class.
Not to throw a wrench into this or hijack the post, I would like to see a 11.00 or a 11.50 index class for the Vettes. There would be at least 30 cars trying to qualify in a 16 car field.
I do see the Pro 8 class going away. Unless the class is restructured. There are not many Vettes that run in the 8's. What I think will need to be done to keep the Pro 8 cars coming to the track - Have the two classes combined. Of course you will have the tree adjusted for the ET.
Rob thanks for your feedback. An 11 or 11.50 class I feel is not enough seperation from bracket racers and, I have barely enough time to deal with 2 classes a day now, going to three is not going to happen.....sorry. 33% increase in pictures, videos, posts, articles, web pages, press releases and on an on. However, this is not about me.
Also, the 11.0 index at E-town is a good test bed for what an 11.0 class would be like with Vettes and we have only see a few Vettes try this.
I would be interested to hear from the couple that voted they would make the car quicker, how soon that might happen and if it something you are planning anyway and this change would accelerate that.
