Tubes for CCW's

Can anybody tell me what brand and part # for an inner tube that will work with my 16" CCW drag package and MT ET Streets (26x11.5x16).

I'd ask that you to rethink that, I feel tubes can be very dangerous.

Why? My rears are screwed to the rim and in order to get the ET streets to wrinkle, you need the tube. I need the extra traction....I am running 13Lbs and use QA1's at all corners.

I run the same tire, w/tubes and screwed as well.. I was under the same impression when I got mine.. I don't think you need the Tubes. It just adds weight and the screws won't go all the way through.. and if you think they will just add a small washer ..

Plus you have to drill out the hole for the valve stem..

I would have to agree with John on this...

As I understand it, you drill holes around the lip of your rims and insert screws into the holes....these screws grab the tire inside and prevent it from moving on the rim at launch...this, in turn, allows the tire to wrinkle or fold at launch resulting in a better hook and short time...

I put screws in my CCW's due the the tires spinning on the rim up to 1" each pass. Plus after having a friend suddenly lose all tire pressure in one of his tires after getting off his trailer(screwed and no tube), I decided to go with tubes.

If you are going with the tubes make sure you put a ton of baby powder on them to avoid them sticking to the rim and tearing. You will find the tube to fit a little tight on the 16 inch rim. They work but having tried it both ways I prefer no tubes.

Thanks for the info, John. I spoke with John at CCW and have desided to go without tubes and try the 28x12.5x16 ET streets. With my new top end (from the upcomimg Ls3) I will need as much traction as possible. I have removed the rear liners hoping this will give me enough room. Any thoughts on this?

From what I have been told by MT and John of CCW, If the tire moves on the rim, you will sheer the tube valve stem. That is why you MUST screw the tire to the wheel. Now, as far as CCW wheels for C5, Viper and Supra, The offset does not alow for proper placement of the tubed valve stem. According to John, a tube could be used but it would require 20+ Lbs. and still not be uniform within the tire. Also, Paul Major mentions using powder so the tube does not adhere.
