Default Exactly where and how do I get “skinnies” up front?

I recently got MT ET Streets and have only used them about 6 runs. I have been using my stock radials up front, even though I have been advised against that. I have run them at 24psi and only trap about 118mph. I can feel a little bit of the “squirrelliness” (sp) everyone has talked about. I want to get bias ply skinnies, but don’t know EXACTLY what to get. If someone could give me detailed description of what and where to get them, I would be very appreciative. Help, I really want to do this in the safest way possible.

Thanks,

Clayton from Las Vegas

Clayton, CCW makes the FRONT RUNNERS that you are looking for.
http://www.ccwheel.com/files/home.php

John is great to work with, BEFORE, DURING, and much AFTER the initial sale. All businesses should operate like his does. He will set you up with a mounted set of 2 front runner rims and tires. I don't think anyone else makes them. Here are my CCW front runners in 16"

This last shot is the CCW front runners, with M/T ET Streets mounted on factory front ZO6 wheels in the rear. I now have the full CCW Drag Package as shown above.

Yeah CCW is your only real option for 16 inch front. There is none for 17" and CCW also has a 18" front that IS a radial.

Not for street use is a 15" option where you either go to drag front brakes requiring some cutting or use rear brakes in the front (not sure what all is involved but we can find a thread here if you are intereseted) and they you can fit just about any 15" front.

Those wheels and tires look awesome, but expensive. I can see the tire is Firestone, but can’t tell which ones. Also, what size wheel is it and does someone make some inexpensive ones. Sorry for all the questions, I just want to get what is necessary without breaking the bank.

Thanks,

Clayton from Las Vegas

Clayton they will run you roughly $2500.00 for the set.

They are 16" CCW Classic Drag Wheels on all 4 corners. The rears are MT ET Streets in the 26 x 11.50 x 16LT

Fronts are Firestone "Deluxe Champion" 5.00/5.25 - 16

As for something less expensive, I never saw drag rims for these cars come in at a lesser cost. If less expensive is out there somewhere, hopefully someone will chime in with the info for you.

If you can wait, watch for a set in the for sale section. Every so often someone sells theirs.

All of the above. John is awesome and CCW clasics are about the nicest rims out there IMO. Got mine in the forsale section, just be fast and post as soon as some come up.

I have them for drags and I bet he could hook you up with fronts only.

They do make clasics for the street as well, and i am running 17 x 9.5 up front, and 18 x 12 out back. They clean up awesome too with bush that CCW uses in house, and can be bought from them, Ecklers and some auto parts stores have it too. Good luck man!!

I run 26 in tall in the front MT 4.5 skinnies on weld wheels,I have had no problems except when I tried to install a set of Good Year 165/80/15's on the front to run the street shootout and at 134.40 mph they blew apart
The Good Years did not have the Z rating, what a ride that was
You need the Weld wheels and lugnuts and Lingenfelter part # which looks like a GM Part #, 22551491 these are the longer studs you can get from GM.I installed them in about 15 min on my front. You will need the lug nuts and washers without the centers in them so the stud will stick out per NHRA rules I think I paid $129.00 each for the tires and about $75.00 each for the wheels.Jegs has them, you can see them on the front of my car in the sig or I can sent you a pic. They do the job for cheap.

Default Front Skinnies Option

There is an option to CCW front skinnies. M&H Racemaster has a P185/80D16 that will fit the front CCW wheel. We have switched to them on both MTI Developmental vehicles as we were using the M&H 26/12.00/16 slicks and wanted a matching front. Both cars have run high 9's and we felt a little safer with a front that was not a reproduction. Referring to CCW's front skinnies we know of no problems of any kind with their fronts. The M&H tires are just an option.
