Redgar - Looking over the Specs of the 315/35 - 17 I see some problems:
1. Short Sidewall.
2. 25.5" Height
3. 11.2 Tread
I think the high Horsepower Vettes will have a hard time "hooking" with this tire. I can hook with an ET Street 16 X 12.5 X 28 (10" Tread) and can't find a radial to match up. I tried Radials 16" @ 26" tall about 12" wide and when they broke loose they wouldn't rehook!!
Thanks JR. it seems noone really makes a 16" radial in in the size similar to the 11.5 et street
What about the 255-50-16 ET street radials? Steath 99 posted he had 1.36 60ft times with these tires.
I'm slowing down my car this year and I want to drive it to the track.

REDGAR - According to the "Real Racer Guys" you try not to compress
your sidewall more than 25% (Usually varified by photos) and most of the 17" tires give up sidewall height. You and I need to soften the
"squat" and sidewall is what does that, letting us beat the snot out of
our "plastic toys" without much breakage. Until someone comes out with a 17" tire with a decent sidewall I'm not going to risk the damage. Even the 17" ET Streets gave up sidewall. Most guys run the 15" tires 29 - 31 tall with a TON of sidewall. We just don't have the fender clearance. One of the reasons I went to the 28" tall 16" ET Street was to improve the sidewall "give".

I was asking on these tires not just for me but to gather info for when soemeone asks about tire options. I think we might be switching the sled over to 28" tires next year as well.
Redgar - If you do go to 28" then plan on getting rid of your rear fenderwell liners. I left mine in and wore rectangular holes in the forward side of both. Tossed them in the garbage, went to chevy bought another set and put them up in my garage attic for the next owner (when ever that may be).
JR I had a set of 28"s on in the beginning of last year and already have those holes and cracks. I will be removing them too. Makes it harder to clean up the rubber mess though
REDGAR-
I pretty much gave up on that - I now only do one or two local car shows each year, because I can't get it "show clean" anymore. I actually wait until the buildup is so bad that a "scraper" can peal it off! The wide tires even get burnout rubber on the lower & leading edges of the red side marker lenses (WD40 gets it off). I guess thats the price of "fame and fortune". Being that I'm a Coupe I even get tons of tiny stones up in the rear water trough. I wipe those out after every event. Boy the things we Vette guys have to endure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was "toying" with designing and fabricating a set of "competition" rear fender liners that would work with the ET Streets, but I kind of like the access to "stuff" without them being there!!!

I missed that. I think I may try them and keep the CCW Firestone bias ply tires on the front and see how it does. I don't want to trailer my car anymore or at least going to the local tracks. The 28 inch Hooisers don't drive very well on the street.
Tom.
Those have to go on a 9" rim max the way I understand and we have 10.5" wheels
Edgar, I tried the 16" ET street radials on my CCW setup last season....fit ok but they were NOT consistant. Do we have enough room to mount the 28" streets with the liner out? I worry about tearing off the quarters!

The liners will fall out or have a hole burnt through them before you lose a quarter.
