Default Product Review - Hoosier Radial Slicks!

I recently switched from ET Street tires (28 x 13.5 - 15) to Hoosier Lightweight Radial slicks (part 18214), 30 x 10.5 - 15..
With the ET Street tires, my 60' times varied a lot (up to over 5 hundreds of a second).

So far, I've made 5 passes with the Radial slicks and they are dead consistent...

Made 2 passes at SGMP a couple of weeks ago and my 60' times were 1.399 and 1.401

Ran again at MMP and only made 1 pass, so I can't tell if I would've been consistent... (1.427 60' time)

This saturday, I raced at BMP and my 60' times were 1.410 and 1.416. On the days on which I made more than 1 pass, my 60' times were within 6 thousands of a second!!!
I also picked up 7 hundreds at my 60' time compared to the ET Street tires but I also got new lightweight rear brakes which surely also helped my 60' times... (went from 1.466 to 1.399

I highly recommend those radial slicks.. They only come in 30 x 9 - 15 and 30 x 10.5 - 15. They are 29.5 inches tall...

Ollie, I have a few questions regarding your new slicks.....

#1 : what is the sidewall width, as-measured (not advertised )?

#2 : what wheel-width are you using, what is your back-spacing, and are you using spacers/adapters to 'clear' the calipers?

#3 : what were your slicks rubbing when you originally installed them, and how did you rectify the problem?

Thanks-in-advance!

I use 15 x 10 Convo Pro wheels with 5 inch backspacing. Convo Pro's clear the calipers without spacers (but it's close). However, I was using 1/4 inch spacers with the 28 x 13.5 - 15 ET Street tires because they had a 13.2 inch sidewall width and were slightly rubbing against the frame.

The slicks were rubbing against the frame right in front where the trailing arms are attached. I had to grind down over 1/4 inch of the frame and shims to create enough clearance. If you don't want to do slight modifications to the frame, use the 30 x 9 - 15 Radial slicks on 8 to 9 inch wide rims with about 4 inch backspacing and you should have no clearance problems.. If you use 5 inch backspacing and the 10.5 inch wide slicks, some frame trimming will be unavoidable..

P.S. I'm now using Aerospace Drag brakes front and rear and with those brakes, all available wheels will clear the calipers
