The track, in North Eastern Ohio, would've been entering their 50th season in 2007:
I raced there in the early-'90s many times, and always found it to be an EXCELLENTLY-run facility.
Saw this posted on another Forum, hope it is wrong.....

I'd heard the refuse-dump across the highway wanted it, but I never in my wildest dreams thought that'd happen:
QCR has beautiful pit-spaces with grass (not 'dirt', but lush, green GRASS ) that the previous owners took great pride-in.....
Track had great competition, and paid-out in CASH when I raced there!!!!!
Classed: SCCA ASR; NASA Super Unlimited; SVRA Group 10 GTO; HSR group H4 IMSA GTO and H11; Rolex Group 7B Historic IMSA GTO; GRL Historic TranAm; VSCDA Group 6 Historic Production GTO.
I saw that too...the question is "an auction of what?"..maybe they are auctioning off IHRA T-shirts, hats and muggs...lol
Under the track's original owners, I believe they would hold an indoor, early-spring swap-meet at the track, as they have several large buildings that house track-prep equipment, and I was told that some racers even KEEP their cars AT the track.
How old is this photo? Quaker City is listed as IHRA Track. I believe they switched two years ago when Thompson switched to NHRA. Maybe they switched again???

This photo was posted Wednesday..... since IHRA still 'lists' QCR are a sanctioned-track, it is quite-possible that sanctioning runs until midnight 31 December, and IHRA is obligated to list them as-same until 1 January.
I spoke with an IHRA Track Owner/Operator in late '05, when rumors circulated that Norwalk Raceway Park might be going to the NHRA, and he told a group of us that up-to 13 other IHRA tracks wanted to follow Norwalk to Glendora-sanction, but would only do-so if they could form-up their-own 'division', and attend their-own 'Divisional Bracket Finals' at Norwalk (regardless of their geographic location ), but NHRA wouldn't allow that to happen, as most of those track, located in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Michigan, would be slated to attend the NHRA Division 3 Finals, at NHRA-owned Indianapolis Raceway Park: had QCR remained IHRA-affiliated, their Bracket Finals would be held at Pittsburgh Raceway Park in '07, less-than 120 miles-away, door-to-door.

....Sad news indeed. With the abundance of racers and enthusiasts here (Youngstown, Ohio area), it seems unreal to me that a drag strip cannot be supported. With the great success of the Steel Valley Nationals moving to Quaker in 2006 (around 2000 cars), plans were already in motion for 2007. I raced my car several "test & tune" days and it was always crowded...a couple hundred in addition to the regular class runners. If no one can step up to the plate, for the first time in 50 years or more there will be no local drag strip here. Yes, I know we can go to Pittsburgh or toward Cleveland, but that would leave out the hundreds of street-strippers here who have no trailers and do not tow their cars. Quaker is about a 1/2 hour drive from almost anywhere in the tri-county area....excellently located. If I had the bucks, I'd buy it today.
most of the racers would go to pittsburgh raceway or dragway 42 and i am sure there is one close by in the south also so 1 bites the dust and then that makes the other 3 stronger for more years to come its not like its the only track out there with in 200 miles
in under 3 hours drive i can be at up to 6 different tracks and thats not counting quaker city

Having started-out @ Keystone Raceway Park (currently Pittsburgh Raceway Park ) in the late-'70s/early-'80s, and remembering what a feces-hole it was in those days, compared to QCR, it is hard to imagine KRP/PRP out-lasting QCR, and a testament to the work done by the Tedesco family since 2001.
With QCR now closing, 2 of the 3 tracks I have won at are now closed, Fairmont (W.Va. ) Dragway being the other to close after 2000:
getting old, and watching drag-strips close, SUCKS!!!!!
Although I didn't care for the "hill" at QCR, I hate to see any strip bite the dust. Most racers I spoke to like racing at QCR. I race at Thompson because I live 10 minutes away but it would be closer than 42 or Norwalk to the Y-town area. The grinding helped a lot last year and they are slowly putting money into other areas. Wednesday nights can get a little hairy because of little track prep but Saturdays they do a great job.
It would still be great to see QCR stay a race track.

All is not lost yet......as of now, QCR is planning a 2007 racing season. From a "reliable source" I have found out that though there was a sale, the land is divided into parcels. The strip is just one of those parcels, and it's owner plans on racing as usual, along with the Steel Valley Nationals returning there for 2007.......(as of now, this is the plan......will post if news changes).
Do you have any more news from your source? The Drag Race Results forum has postings from two different people who have talked to Ann from the track as recently as yesterday and according to the posts, she said the property will be auctioned off in Februrary.
