Got to meet and talk to a real drag racing legend yesterday
So I was at PRI this weekend hanging out with my buddies from NitroPlate (great product, best customer service in the header coating industry) and was lucky enough to get to meet and talk to Jere Stahl for over an hour. Got to listen to a bunch of old "Grumpy" Jenkins stories, and even talk about our current NHRA stocker combination. Very nice guy, extremely intelligent and truely a legend in this sport (and this coming from a 29 year old kid, not one of the old guys). That was probably the highlight of the show, except maybe for getting Miss Bassani's autograph

Nice...I got to see Jere Stahl run his white pro-stock hemi GTX at Atco many, many years ago. The guy was great with a stick, and the car ran low 10's at 130+ mph...pretty heady stuff for the times (I think it was 1968 or so).
He also made some pretty good headers as well...ahh, those were the days.

Jere Stahl is a legend. I first met him in 1968 when I ordered a set of his fenderwell headers for my 1957 L/S 283/245 Chevy. That was the HOT set-up back then.
