Default First time dragging

I checked the search menu and didn't find much usefulness. I am going to the strip for the first time this saturday and was wondering how do you keep traction with street tires. The track looks slick and I have seen them spray a fluid to do burnouts on and watched a few funny cars slide. Any tips would be appreciated thanks

I know I will get burned for this, but you should really try to search again, as it has come up plenty of times in the past how to drag race.

Too many variables to give you an answer other than search and read the threads.

Auto or manual transmission?

Go around the water box. Don't heat the tires, no smokey burnouts. Once around the water, turn the tires over to clean off, then stage.

Most tracks spray down DHT as a track prep.

The only thing they spray to do burnouts is water. They used to use bleach but all I ever see now is water from a hose.

That's why you want to drive around the water box with street tires, keep the water off your fronts. Your fronts could pick up enough water to lay in front of your rears at the line, and kill your own launch.

well for me...

I always drive around the water... dry hop the tires to clean the tread.. roll up to stage.... flush the converter... stall it up just bit .. wait for the last yellow and let her rip... lol

Gosh I miss doing that...

Default Actually VHT is part of several products

VHT TrackBite is used in the staging area. There are other VHT products that are used. Go to VHT and it gives more information on the products.

They put water down in the water box for burnouts. They spray VHT down to make the track STICKY.
It looks slipperier then it is.
On street tires, don't go thru the water!
You can do a small burnout on your street tires to get them a bit more sticky for your launch & better your 60' times.
I wouldn't floor it off the line on street tires as you'll probably "sit & spin".
Hope this helps.
Ron
