help please from any Holley experts
I have a modified C4 with big block running brodix heads etc and a strong street cam.
The engine was built up professionally and has been dyno'ed. I have also started it in the car but yesterday I had a problem with fuel blow back that made me decide not to start it again until I had checked the carb as I have had a carb fire in the past and all that dry powder takes forever to clean up!
The carb is a Holley 850 double pumper out of the box. The fuel pressure is set at 5 psi. What happened was that when I tried to re start the engine when hot raw fuel keeps spraying up out of the front venturi,s in quite large amounts. This seems to be driven by the manifold pressure fluctuations as you crank rather than happening when you turn on the fuel line pressure.
Could the front float have become stuck down or is there some form of percolation?
I know this is a pretty basic question for this forum but I am no Holley expert and local advice is harder to find in the UK than it is in the USA.

Just a note - email corky.heisler@verizon.net
mention your from the CF and I referred you to him.
I have seen him work his magic on many Holleys and
I am sure he will help if he can.
He is extremly busy getting cars ready for the race season so have some patience in getting an answer.

Sounds like you blew out the front seat in the carb.
You will need to remove the front bowl.
check the float holding the bowl upside down, see if the black seat is touching the float tang .
Spush the float up to see if the seat is not sticking in the bore.
Make sure metal clip is on the seat, and attached to the float.
Are you using the in tank pump and just adjusting the fuel presure to 5 lbs?
