I have wanted a C5R for a while now. But the prices on them have been going up, esp the Dale Earnhart ed's.
I went to the local hobby shop and they happened to have just one 2000 Earnhart edition (the yellow and white one) for $70! I grabbed it right away. I actually got it for $65 because the plastic on the box was torn slightly.
Think it was a decent deal?
I'm not an expert but I don't think Dale drove a C5R until 2001, and that was a solid yellow C5R for the 2001 24 Hours of Daytona. But I could be wrong.

Well it turns out you are kind of right.
I am not exactly shure what it is now.
Its a #3 car, and so I automatically assumed it was a Dale Earnhart car. However it does not have his signature on it?
Well at the very least I have a C5R:D
 ,
I got the 2001 Le Mans winning #63 (Auto Art). Would have liked to have gotten the Dale E car, but the prices on those were out if site (if you could find them). Enjoy it, I love the detail on these C5Rs. I also got the trailer and a Silverado to tow it. Didn't think about it at the time, I could have gotten Ron Fellows and Johnny O' to sign it at the races in DC. Got some other autographed stuff though.
I think you lucked out. The AutoArts are much nicer than the Actions. My C5R collection will be incomplete with no Dale car unless AutoArt can get a license to make it.
I'd be more interested in the "flag" livery C5R from 2001 LePetit Lemans. I sent Autoart an email inquiring about whether they had any intention to produce this version. The response was that they were attempting to gather info on that particular livery. Curious as to what info besides photos are used to reproduce a paint scheme

I would also love to get that one as well. I did see a place that had a 1/43 scale, but I would prefer a 1/18th. There may be liscensing issues that they may have to resolve.
I have the Fly slot car version in 1/32nd and it is just  . I too would like to have the flag version.........bought two of the Action cars (#2 raced) on ebay from Ecklers for 29.95 each and 9.00 shipping to cover both cars. I'm no fan of Action cars, but at $30 I can practice painting on one for experimental use.
Yeah its an Auto Art. I am glad of that. I really like Auto art models. I have that 57 concept vette from Auto art, and it is probably my best model (in detail).
Aparantly in my haste, I saw the #3 and just assumed it was a Dale E car. I didn't even notice the Ron Fellows, and other drivers names on it.
Oh well, I do still like it a lot. Its proped on my monitor now.
