Default How to safely remove decals ?

I have a 1957 Chevy Bel Air and a 1957 Corvette 1/18 I would like to paint. I don't like the color of the Vette and the Chevy has a crack in the paint. It was bought on sale because of it.

I would like to re-use these decals after I re-paint these models.

Any suggestions ?

Cheers

If they are water set type decals, you are out of luck. Most 1/18 scale models use sticky back stickers. If they are the stickers, use a hobby knife to lift the off the model. Store them on a piece of waxed paper, so they can be reapplied after the repaint.
