I went into my local Toys R us....in Atl...looking for the gold 67, the light blue/silver 67, and a few other Stingrays and Vettes that people here on the forum have found.... Toys R Us had......NOTHING>>>>>they had the poorest stocked shelfs I have ever seen in a store
The only 1/18th scale cars they had were....CRAPPY Hot Wheels :U :U :U
I will have to make a trip north to see what the Toys R us in North Point Mall has :yesnod: :yesnod:
I'm not sure of the total availability of the gold cars, but they may be akin to the treasure hunts by hotwheels. All the TRU's here in SoCal have had at least a couple cars. Only one store had the 2003's and I only saw (bought) one gold car myself.
I have a local TRU, and 3 others within 30 minutes of me, but still no luck on the gold cars. So, I got 'em from Ebay. The '67 is limited to 500, and the '53 is 1000. They're both enroute to me now. I don't know what number the '67 is, but the '53 is #0002 of 1000. Yes, I had to pay for it, but the low number helps offset the $$$ pain. I figured I can either drive all over, pay the gas, risk an auto accident, and probably not find one on the shelves, or just have it show up at my door. Sounds lazy, and I know it takes away the "thrill of the hunt", but after awhile the wasted store visits get old. With no kids, I have no other reason to go to TRU.
On the bottom of the cars, on or near the exhaust, is supposed to be where the number is. The '67 should read #xxx of 500, and the '53 should be #xxxx of 1000. I've heard rumors that they're supposed to do a gold version of their totally incorrect red/white '62 also.
