Default What is a dealer promo?

I know they are models of a specific year car but what else are they?

What size are they?
Can you open the hoods?
Do they come assembled?

I am wanting to know about the quality and look of them, from the pics I have seen they look to be the same color inside and out with very little detail.

What size are they? - Almost always 1:25th of actual size - a C5 is 7.2 inches long.
Can you open the hoods? - No
Do they come assembled? - Yes - they are molded in plastic and are simplified compared to a plastic kit for easy assembly by the manufacturer

Through about 1995 the Corvette promos usually were all one color in 1996 they started doing more authentic interior/exterior combos and putting on emblem details. The current ones look very good:

Most models are the same color overall. Some special ones do exist. The older ones usually were two colors. They are all 1/24th scale.

Would they be easy to take apart and repaint them. Basically remove the body and repaint it and repaint the interior.

All are 1/24 scale. Some are painted and some colored plastic. Almost all have screw attaching the chasis to the body. Easy to remove the chasis from the body. Taking out the interior requires breaking the melted tabs from the body. It can be done and then melted back to reattach.

Actually, most models are 1/24 scale too. The Promo is basically a less detailed version of the models that are realased. No engine, or opening hood with the promo.

From the 1940's thru the present model year, all dealer promos were the smaller 1/25th scale. In the late 60's, one manufacturer, Hubley, made there dealer promo's in 1/24th scale. These were Ford Station Wagons, Ford Fairlane 4 door sedans, and a few foreign makes.
