They're 1:12 scale. Originally these were made by Solido. I've got a red w/ white cove 'vert and a blue w/ white cove hardtop.

Now they're being sold under the Gearbox name. I haven't looked at these up close, but I think that they're the same cars. I've also seen them in white w/ silver and black w/ silver.

I got my for $50 and $100 respectively, and I think they're worth it. The engine compartment is not very detailed, but sitting on the shelf the huge scale is great. The interiors are much higher quality, with fuzzy carpet and leather-like seats.

Hey Steve, every consider that idea we shared a long time ago about installing one of those better detailed Ertl 1/12th engines into that Gearbox/Solido chassis?? I've seen several of the 1/12's on ebay going for about $50 so it is getting cheaper to try this mod. I have the blue hardtop model. :seeya

I need to look into that. I've done my first interior/chasis swaps with UT C5s, so I think I would be comfortable taking one of these apart. What are those engine sets going for these days?

I have both 1/12 1958 Corvettes by Solido. The Blue one has the removable hardtop and the Red is top down only. Great detailing for the money. I have two of each, new in the box.

The engine sets can be had for about $20 for the set.....Gotta get ahold of one and maybe give it a go. Just need to decide what color for the mod. Red, Blue, Black, or White...or maybe a complete stripdown and a repaint in some custom Boyds color.....
