I'm looking for advice and opinions re Exoto's Grand Sport collectables. There's a new one that's yellow & blue, apparently based on a 1998 (?) restoration of one of the original cars. Before I buy one - and the pictures look great - if you've bought an Exoto collectable, would you mind sharing your opinions as to whether you got your money's worth (approx. $165.00) and advice as to the source you'd buy it from? Thanks.
The only Exoto that I paid full retail on $150.00 was the GS Prototype that came out first. Since then, I have purchased 4 others for as much as 50% off. Got a good deal on the #80 from chevy mall. Think it was $80 total after shipping. I think they are worth the $100 you usually pay for them. Awesome detail and great paint jobs. Not completely correct for each one I believe, but real real close. They are race cars, and race cars are generally changed on a somewhat race by race basis. The GS's are no different. Isn't the one you refer to the Penske version convertible?? You can do better than $165. Do Ebay for the better deals most of the time. A few of them are now officially retired. :seeya

Is this the one you mean?
"No Corvette Grand Sport Roadster ever looked like Exoto's Chicago Hobby Show 1998 Presentation Model, and there will never be another collectible quite like this one!" http://www.exoto.com
I realize it's not "authentic" in the sense that such a GS ever competed, but for some reason it just strikes my fancy. Are they being discounted anywhere?
I too bought the #80 coupe off Chevy's Mall website. You may want to look around before you pay full retail. If it's a new car, you may have to pay the full price to get one.
