Hello, first let me tell you that I am clueless...
I have recently inherited a Franklin Mint 1:12 L88 Conneusseurs Series Sting Ray Convertible in Red. It was sold in about 2003, and has never been taken out of the box until this week, the person who bought it got ill and died right after ordering it. I posted in on ebay and have several people interested, but they all want to know the series number - there were only 427 made, and they keep asking what number of the 427 this one is. I searched high and low and cannot find anything. I have been on the phone with Franklin Mint 4 times, and they have not been helpful. It amazes me that a Collectible Company only keeps records of their own products for 5 years. They are making in now in yellow, and there is a silver plate on the bottom with the number on it, so they tell me that it "probably should" be on the bottom also, but it is not! There is the number A1191 on the license plate, but they can't tell me if that means anything!
I am hoping to find someone on this board who has the same model and can help me out, I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you in advance....
Location: Never be seen driving something you can actually afford.

I don't have this particular model and all but a few of the FM models I have are 1:24. Typically the number on the bottom of the chassis of the model will give you the serial number. I would expect it to say something like "#xxx/427" There is usually a certificate of authenticity that comes with the paperwork in the same box as the model which should also give you the serial number. At least it tends to be that way with the smaller scales. On some models the serial number plate is inside the trunk.
I don't think the license plate #has any particular value. It's likely to be the same on every one of the cars produced
Thanks for the info, I can't figure out what is happening, bcs. there is nothing on the bottom (5 people have looked), but the box was never opened and she has the credit card receipt directly from FM. Frustrating!
The rally red 1/12 was issued in 2001 in a Limited Edition, no total numbers given out by FM, the first color issued. They have since done a black LE of 427, marina blue LE of 427, sunfire yellow LE of 427, and a silver LE of 99. Your number is probably on the certificate that came with the car.
Charlie,
That helps ALOT! At least I know that I am not mad, looking for a number that is not there.
There is no number that we can find on the paperwork, either, though.
Thanks for your help!
The number should be on the rear license plate. Mine is #A 0129. Like stated before, the red was not a limited edition and no one knows how many were produced but at least 1191 were apparently.
