Detailed my cars this past week-end and clean out my display case. While it isn't a large collection, I think it's representative of the 1:18 models out there, with te exception of c6's which are now on order.

I wish I had that collection! It looks great and I know you're proud of it. I'm just beginning to collect diecast models and I've decided to begin with replicas of Corvettes that I've owned. I have a beautiful Danbury Mint '68 British Green convertible that is nearly identical to my first Corvette. I have on order a Franklin Mint '71 LS6 t-top in what appears to be Ontario Orange which is the color of my '71. I haven't had any luck finding a white '66 roadster or an '01 Pewter vert. Also there don't appear to be any '07's on the market yet although I found an '05 and '06 that would pass except I would have to paint the interior to match my cashmere interior. Any tips on collecting?

According to my wife there is a fine line between compulsion and obsession, I may dance on that line but, I have made it a point to try buy only diecasts that truly like, center my collection around the various generations, themes ie silver, pacecars and experimentals, and to buy the highest quality available at the time of purchase. Sadly, when I started my collection, 10 plus years ago, the only available models where Miasto, Ertel, Revelle and Mira, with the introduction of Auto Art and Exacto the quality has increased dramatically and so now the question becomes what needs to be replaced. Good Luck and above all else enjoy the obsession.
