I really want to buy a lot of diecast Corvette models (1:18 scale). I can't afford the high dollar models and get the numbers I want to own. I'm looking at mostly Ertl, Maisto, Hotwheels, etc. What is the best web site/company to order these cars from (good prices, availability, shipping prices)?
There are many, many diecast dealers out there, but I believe you're best bet is still Ebay. It's not perfect, but you'll find the best selection and pricing there, especially in the brands you're looking for. Take a little time to search through the listings there. You'll find just about everything you're looking for, and if you don't find something right away, be patient, it'll show up eventually. As for shipping prices, there are Ebay sellers who try to gouge buyers on shipping, but the same is true for some online dealers. Most Ebay sellers will give you a shipping discount for multiple purchases made within a reasonable time frame. If they don't mention something in the auction you want to know, write to them and ask. If they don't respond, then you probably don't want to buy from them anyway.
I agree, I bought most of mine on e-bay. and if you post what you are looking for here someone just might have what you are looking for.I may be unloading alot of Maisto C4"s &C5" and Bburago C1's to make room for some higher end diecasts.

Try places like Sam's or Costco, when they have them in stock they are less than $10. I've also found some at Big Lots in the past.
Big Lots has been a great source recently. Also BJ's for Road Legend and Signature Series and Maisto for less than $10.00.
Right now if you have KAYBEE Toys in your area, all the diecast 1/18th scale are marked down to $10.00 for the month. I picked up all the Hotwheels C-6 including the white limited coupe. A great deal if you can find them. Sadly, when I started to collect diecast, TRU (ToysRus) was a great resource for ERTL/RC2 which has really stepped up to the plate with their latest 1970 Monte Carlo Elite series and 1971 Olds Cutlass SX. But TRU has not stocked any decent diecast for some time. Good luck and welcome to the addiction of diecast.

Damn Dude! that is some collection you have there . I have an `87 yellow coupe, I notice you have an 80 something yellow coupe in your set. Where did you find it?. All I can seem to find are `86 converts in yellow.
I have found my diecasts from all sorts of different places. I got 3-4 1:18 Maisto Vettes at Sam's Club for that $10 range previously mentioned, and I've had decent luck at places like Target and Kay-Bee toys, as well, but those two are really hit or miss. I found a 1:18 Guldstrand Z06 for under $10 at KB, and I got my 2 HotWheels C6's at Target for $17.99 ea.
eBay is definitely a good resource for anything hard to find, but you do have to read the auction description closely, and pay close attention to the shipping and handling charges. Also, make sure the models you are bidding on come with boxes (if that's important to you). Some are new, but w/o box. I make it a personal rule that I'll pay no more than 10-12 bucks for shipping, and I only deal with people that accept PayPal - esPECIALLY when I'm bidding on a higher-priced model.
They all have sales from time to time, and depending on what you're looking for, you may be able to get something for a smokin' deal if you catch it at the right time! Best of luck with your collection.
