Just got an e-mail from legacy Diecast...They wont be shipping the Chaparral 2E that I've had on pre-order for 2.5 years. I talked to them on the phone just after receiving the e-mail, and their GM says that they've stopped dealing with Exoto.
According to the GM, Exoto has gotten very arrogant lately, not replacing damaged goods, claiming that "They never ship rejects", not honoring ordering commitments, exhorbitant price increases, and other nonsense.
I really wanted that model, especially since I've been waiting so long, so I call Replicarz, a store that I've dealt with regularily. Their GM essentially tells me the same thing as the Legacy people, and he's dropped Exoto also. Furthermore, the Replicarz GM says that Exoto seems to want to be self-retailing, and keep all the profits.
Eliminate the middleman and increase the prices by 20%....Yep, there's greed in action!
Exoto? Arrogant? What, did the people at Legacy just fall off the turnip truck?
No, I think that they just got tired of dealing with the hassle. The GM from Replicarz told me that he's dropped Exoto before, but they came back to him, pleading for him to continue to sell their cars. He too, has finally had enough of them.
I just annoys the hell out of me, because I've been waiting so long for this Chaparral. In retrospect, I might have been better off "pre-ordering" from Exoto directly, but on the other hand, if they're so arrogant with their dealers, they probably would have hit the early orderers with price increases along the way, even though they still haven't shipped any of these models.
