Default Indy 500 Pace Cars

Hello all!
I'd like to collect detailed dicasts of all the Corvette Indy 500 Pace Cars. I have a couple of cheaper dicasts of other cars and want to buy some of better quality and detail. I've done a little looking and and want your opinions:

What companies make the best diecasts for each of the 6 pace car years?

Thanks in advance!!

UT/Action Auto makes the 78 and 03, best quality of the pace cars in 1/18 scale. Maisto makes the 95 & 98, quality of the strips on the 95 are poor at best. Ertl makes the 98 & 04, average quality. There is someone on the forum that has customized an 86 for a price, it's the only one not manufactured by one of the diecast companies in 1/18 scale.

I know Franklin Mint offers some in 1/24 scale, also at a price.

I've purchased most of mine from Ebay.

Nice collection, Red73!

Any other opinions on these cars and manufacturers? What is the quality of the Revell, Greenlight, or Mini Muscle cars?

PS the Daytona vettes look good too!

If you're talking 1/18 pace cars only, Red73 pretty much hit it on the head. There isn't much variety manufacturer-wise. I made the '86 pace cars, but I'm not making them anymore. Time for a diecast company to step up on that one.

Default For Pace car Corvettes the UT/Auto Art are the best in 1:18 scale

Better made and more detail.

I have all 6 in 1:18 scale thanks to 7Vette, now I'm hearing rumors that this year will be another Corvette Pace Car. Check out these photo renditions someone has put out. scroll down the page.

Tell me a little about these "promos". How is the quality of each year? Who makes them? Whats the story behind them.

thanks in advance!

On a different note (from that website), I find it amusing that someone is making a C6 "Grand Sport"... We C4 guys seem to always get bashed, yet I'd say this is poetic justice!

I just received the 03 Pace Car by AutoArt ($60 on Ebay). I must say that I am very impressed with the detail! The targa top is a pain to get on...

Anyhoo, on to the next one. I'm bidding on a 98 Ertl now. I wish the UT 78's weren't so darn expensive. I can't justify the price...yet...
