1975 Convertible- $13,900
SOLD!
I've sold my '93 and now am putting my '75 for sale in order to get into a C5 Z06. The car is an L48 with a TH400, all original drive line. It has 60,300 miles on it. Medium Saddle in color with black vinyl interior. It has been repainted at some point, and it is just decent driver quality paint. The car had been in a barn for about 5 years before I bought it a couple of years ago, so I did what I thought was required to get it roadworthy. Here is a list of what was rebuilt or replaced with new:
Trailing arm assemblies
Strut rod bushings
Front diff bushings
Spring bolts and bushings
Shocks
O-ring calipers
Master cylinder
All brake lines and hoses
Radiator and hoses
Water pump (have original in box)
Fuel pump (have original in box)
Original carb rebuilt
Driveshaft u-joints
Halfshaft u-joints
255/60/15 tires
Carpeting
Seatcovers
1/4 trim panels
Rear storage frames
Front and rear TruFlex bumpers
The frame is in really solid shape. I had to replace the #4 body mounts, and the driver's side frame mount was eaten somewhat from leakage from above, so I used a couple of large washers with the new cushion for strength. The car has true dual exhaust (so, no cat). It had a 7 leaf rear spring on it when I bought it. The previous owner had the heater core replaced about 5 or 6 years ago. The interior is nice with the new seat covers and carpeting, and the dashpad is really nice. The door panels are average. The convertible top is in good condition with a very good rear window. The bumpers were cracked and brittle, so new ones were installed and painted to match. the color match was very good. There is an area of crackled paint on the convertible top decklid, but you only notice it with the top down. I found a nice set of factory aluminum wheels for it and polished them up, and had new Cooper Cobra radials put on.
This car starts right up and runs smooth, and goes down the road nice. It had a 4 wheel alignment after I replaced the trailing arms. As you can see from my list, most of the issues that plague these cars have been dealt with. I am asking $14,900, or would apply as a trade towards a C5 ZO6.
Here are some pics:
This was taken with the old seat covers still on:
Here is a pic of the VIN and windshield pillar as suggested by Ed below. As you can see by the low VIN number, the car was made on the first day of '75 production in October of '74.

This car is priced right. The work that has been done so far would set you back several thousand dollars.
One of 4,629 convertibles
One of 3,403 Medium Saddle cars made
The brakes, bumpers, tires and interior have been done for the new owner. This car is road ready.

One of the previous owners years ago had the stock valve covers and the air cleaner chromed. The valve covers were pitted enough that they just didn't look good, so I threw on a nice pair of LT-1/Z28 valve covers that I had. Kind of an expensive fix , but bonus for the eventual buyer.

Gee Ed, I didn't realize I was going to get a homework assignment!
I'll answer what I can tonight, and get more pics and do some checking to make sure on a few things.
The car does have power steering, and it is nice and tight. Steering box doesn't leak.
It does drive nice and straight (and stops nice and straight too). In the front I replaced the sway bar links and bushings, the shocks, and re-packed the wheel bearings.
The car does leak a few drops from the rear main area after it's parked. I'll check to make sure on anything else.
The jack is MIA, but it has a nice tub with what I believe to be one of the 5 original Firestone 500 radial tires that came with the car inside it. The wheel and tire are in really good shape:
All of the gauges work, as do the tach, speedo, and odo. (I'll have to check on the clock- but you're right, that probably doesn't.)
Headlights go up and down nice and quick.
I have all the ignition shielding, but the lower pieces that go on the block aren't that nice, and I like to leave it off for ease of working on the cars.
All of the lights work except one of the back-up lights. The horn works, and so do the wipers.
I do not have any documentation, but the story is that the car was bought new by a doctor at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, (it still has the parking sticker on the windshield) then sold to a lady who lived on Torch Lake in northern Michigan, then sold to the guy I bought it from in Charlevoix. That would make me the 4th owner.
I don't believe I got the parking brake adjusted quite tight enough to do much good after everything was re-assembled. The courtesy lights all work as does the ignition key buzzer. I'll have to check a couple of the other things. It does have tele/tilt wheel. I played a little with the car alarm once but couldn't get it to work.
The fresh air vent cables don't work, (now fixed, or "How I Spent My 4th of July") the windows rattle when you slam the doors, and the EGR valve was plated off. I'm sure there's more, but that's all I can think of for now. Whew!

I can't believe you still have that car available and at that price. Looks like a great deal. We have lots of guys on this forum looking for a nice C3 convertible that should be all over this, especially at that price.

Thanks Ed! I really have put a lot of time and effort into this car to make it reliable and presentable. It is hard up here to find a car that not only has low miles but a really nice frame and absence of rust. One of the trailing arms had a mouse as a guest, so thanks to him it developed a rust hole in it and also seized the shock mount to the spindle support . The trailing arm bolts came out quite easily, as did the pass. side shock mount. Water laying in the #4 pockets is all I can figure on the body mounts and reinforcements going bad. I actually re-glassed the bottom of the pockets (for strength) before re-assembly. As you said- not a fun job. Thanks for the EGR valve- I may just hook it all back up!

Hmmm..... maybe I should just put it on Ebay. Yeah, I realize his has a 4-speed, A/C, and a hardtop, but still:

You have a great car and it should have already sold at your asking price. I would try a few other places to advertise such as Hemmings. While I love the forum I don't think there are a lot of serious buyers here. If a car is priced fairly it should sell. I have had good luck selling on Craigslist and Hemmings very little here.
