It will pass per the new Cal regulation for 35 years or older insured as collectible. All it has to do is pass the sniff test and make sure there are no gas leaks..

CP from another post on the forum.

Smog

AB2683 states....

(1) Submission of proof that the motor vehicle is insured as a

collector motor vehicle, as shall be required by regulation of the

bureau.

(2) The motor vehicle is at least 35 model-years old.

(3) The motor vehicle complies with the exhaust emissions

standards for that motor vehicle's class and model-year as prescribed

by the department, and the motor vehicle passes a functional

inspection of the fuel cap and a visual inspection for liquid fuel

leaks.

Arnold got rid of this law...
Does my vehicle qualify for a smog exemption?

Smog inspections are required unless your vehicle is:
• Hybrid
• Gasoline powered 1975 year model or older
• Diesel powered 1997 year model and older or with a Gross Vehicle Weight rating (GVWR) of more than 14,000 lbs
• Electric
• Natural gas powered with a GVWR rating of more than 14,000 lbs.
• Motorcycle
• Trailer

I googled this and it is very confusing, many easy outs for the DMV and smog tech. The car should not pass the sniff test as it has no air pump or catalytic convertor. I called a local smog station and he is not aware of this being approved.

DMV has no form to exempt it upon proof of Historical Insurance.....

I'm lost.....

HINT

If you get get, borrow by some means the original equipment to get it smogged once then determine which zip codes do not require biannual smog checks (rural areas) by going here...
http://www.dmv.ca.gov/vr/smogfaq.htm
http://smogcheck.ca.gov/pubwebquery/...ZipLookup.aspx

Once smogged
Drive to that rural location
Take out a PO Box
Inform the DMV of the address change for that vehicle

(g) For purposes of subdivision (a), any collector motor vehicle,
as defined in Section 259, is exempt from those portions of the test
required by subdivision (f) of Section 44012 of the Health and Safety
Code, if the collector motor vehicle meets all of the following
criteria:
(1) Submission of proof that the motor vehicle is insured as a
collector motor vehicle, as shall be required by regulation of the
bureau.
(2) The motor vehicle is at least 35 model-years old.
(3) The motor vehicle complies with the exhaust emissions

by the department, and the motor vehicle passes a functional

After he became govenator it was all down hill from there! What a piece of work a big dummy that never could learn to speak properly. The California public is even dumber than he is by electing him into office. Now we have the brown clown I think we should flush it.
