Default Wanted: 68-72 convertible 4-speed

Hello, I am looking for a nice driver/ local show level convertible. I posted on the c2 forum as well, but those might be out of my price range. Not too concerned with engine spec, but I would like a numbers matching car. No rusty frame etc. Original with faded paint is OK too. I really prefer 70-72, but 68 and 69 are ok. Colors are not too important: love warbonnet, any of the reens and blues, ontario , gold etc. Do not like: sunflower yellow, black. Looking to stay under 30k, not sure where I should be price wise for a nice 71 or 72 base roadster. Any advice would be great.

Based on what you are willing to spend you should be able to pick up an extremely nice base motor 71-72 roadster.

Be patient. For just under 30k you could easily pick up a very nice 70 Roadster as well. I mean very very nice. You might even be able to pick up a 70 350/350 roadster and trust me when I say there is NO comparison between the 70 350/350 and base model.

When I was looking, I drove the base motor version and then drove the 350/350. I bought the 70 350/350 Roadster.

Enjoy the hunt.

Thanks. 22 to 25k would be a happier price for me, but just under 30 is doable though. I currently have a triumph tr6 and a 340 dodge demon 4-speed.I plan to sell those once I find a vette. I think the 350 horse motor would give me 340-like performance which would be nice.

The difference is 50 hp at the flywheel The 350/350 has the same bottom end and heads as the LT-1.

GM designated the motor as an L46. It was only available in 69 and 70.

Far more fun than the base model.

L-46 is a 350ci 350hp motor w/ high compression pistons and has flat tappet lifters/cam. Runs great, pulls hard and revs very nicely. I have a 69 L 46 and put a larger cam and carb on it and it runs like a demon. Many of the base models are automatic as well. I see you want a 4 speed. I with you. Now running a 5 speed Tremec due to 4.11 rear. I can actually drive on the highway now and not turn 3500rpms. Good luck w the search..

Yeah, 4-speed is my preference, a ls5 automatic would be ok too. But I really want it to combine my muscle car needs with sports car too.

Thanks for the interest. The Demon is a numbers matching 340 4speed. Fender tag matches, color is TB3 petty blue. B5 blue interior etc. No rust ready to drive. I can answer any more questions via PM or phone. Don't want to turn this in to a mopar thread.

Sorry, after looking at the pics looks the HP is 390.

Is there a link somewhere telling more details of the car?

Default Details

Here are some details:

The car was purchased from 3rd owner in Raliegh, NC. I have owned it for one year. I bought a GTO and now must sell. It has a #matching 427 big block, 390 HP. Interior was just refurbished with new carpet, seat covers, foam, mats, console, steering wheel and hidden stereo. There is no AC, AC was a rare option on convertibles of those years. Has brand new BFG TAs. Odometer says 68,000 but I am unsure of the true mileage. Engine was redone about 12 years ago and chrome added over the years. Lots of documented history comes with the car. The turn signal and break light fiber optics work. The radio in the dash is inoperable and not original. Hidden radio is Sony iPod ready. I did not add the "Blue Devil" logo, so I do not know how difficult it would be to remove. The car runs very well and has recently been tuned. The engine does not smoke. There is a minor amount of fluid leakage (oil) commensurate with a car this age. I believe the car is worth 35K, but I would negotiate for a quick sale. Please send me a PM for my other contact information.
