Do I need a dry sump system?
Looking to do my first HPDE event and ran across a post where they guy mentions he installed a dry sump system due to blowing engines. Obviously this made me a bit concerned that maybe I need this before I track my Z. I usually run in HPDE 1,2 at the moment.
Thoughts welcome before I blow my engine.

Melting Slicks
What car and what tires?

Probably not. Sticky R-Comps (Hoosier A6/R6, Hankook 214, Slicks), and Aero will make it worse and will need accusump or drysump. Oiling issues in left hand corners with high g's.
Do a search, a ton of posts on this forum about this.

as a novice and racing generally speaking the LS6 is bullet proof ... you do not need to dry sump the LS6 but adding an oil cooler is first on the list ... a accusump is preferred by many once you have sticky tires and pulling high Gs through a corner. You will find yourself needing seats also as the stock seats do not hold ya in well. But for now add one quart extra to the crankcase fresh brakes / fluid and go have some fun. Be safe learn the car and then work on improving some of the basic stuff.

No you don't need a dry sump. We got by OK in T1 racing with no dry sumps on A6's. However, once you add aero and increase the g-forces even further, then the dry sump becomes necessary for any LS engine IMO. I would have run a dry sump in T1 also, but the rules prohibited it.
