Custom Videocam Mount for C5

I had a couple of old clip-on lamps sitting around for a decade or so. The plastic clamps allowed quite a range of motion and I adapted them to swivel on the hatch struts.
I bolted a 1x1 inch by four foot aluminum tube to the clamps and screwed a 90 degree 2x2 "L" bracket bent to allow level mounting of my video camera to the center of the bar.
I took a 1/4 x 20 bolt (standard camera mount thread) and put a wingnut on and tethered it to the bar so it would not get lost.
Anyone wanting to build a similar assembly could do so by finding a way to attach the bar to the struts. The important thing to consider is that the strut mount must be able to swivel, or the whole assembly will probably bind up when the hatch is raised.
And trust me - you WILL raise the hatch while forgetting you have the camera bar attached, so don't count on having a solid mount and remembering to loosen it before opening the hatch. Ask me how I learned THAT lesson!
