Default Hoosier R6 and storage

How long can these tires sit (without use) and still be trackable?

I have a set from a track day 2 years ago (Local track disappeared), probably 30-40% wear.

Not so much performance I'm worried about. More like breaking apart on the track or highway on the way home

I've always been told, and do just this, to place the tires in heavy individual plastic bags in a cool, dry place (basement - away from the furnace) to help reserve them.

Not likely to blow out at all. Where you stored them is the most important thing. If indoors, you are good for sure. If they have been in the elements, they will be very slick. But still not likely to blow out. Hoosier DOT's are very tough tires.

Do a very close inspection for cracks and I would check them after a couple or 3 laps (just pull into hot pits) and pull off immediately if you hear/feel any thing weird.
